Did Fedex lose my XM18?

I got up this morning and went to work with a spring in my step. I had found an XM18 at good price from an authorized dealer and it was all set to be delivered today right to my store. Instead, Fedex seems to have lost the package at the "destination sorting facility." I'm not here to give Fedex a hard time, nor do I wish to name the dealer because he has been very professional and it isn't his fault anyway. I'm just wondering if any of you guys have lost knives (you couldn't wait to get) to the delivery services out there. Any miraculous recoveries? That would be most comforting to hear. They are in the process of a "trace," so hopefully it will turn up. If not, the dealer has been gracious about finding me another XM18. So close, and yet so far!

I've never lost a knife in shipping (knocks on wood multiple times).

But I've had other items get miss directed.

It took a few extra days to get to me but in the end I always received my items.

Sorry to hear about your plight and truly hope FedEX finds your package.

I personally only use USPS and have always had great results.

Sometimes use UPS, but FedEX is on the bottom of my list.

I know its a lot easier said than done but just be patient for a day or two and hopefully it'll turn up.

Keep us posted on the outcome.

Wow, you can keep your cool that's for sure, hopefully it turns up. I've had stuff get sent to the wrong sort facility a few times but they always ended up with me.

Had a similar experience with FedEx last year, I shipped a custom Hinderer and several other knives from Atlanta after the Blade show. I had flown down to Atlanta and did not trust putting these knives into checked baggage, so I used FedEx instead. They were suppose to arrive the next day, which to my utter dismay they did not! I made several calls to FedEx to track them down and finally received them three days later. I really thought I would never see them again. My advice to you is start calling today and make them give you an exact location of where your knife is and the exact time to be delivered.

I had a Busse travel outside it's expected path. It went all the way across the country in the opposite direction. It took an extra 4 days for the detour. It was within an hour of my house (WA), when I checked again it was in Atlanta GA, or some such nonsense. I thought it must have been an error, but indeed, it tracked back from there, and had processing stamps (if I remember correctly).

My UPS delivery guy used to always show items as delivered with signature, when I had not signed for them, and had to go over to his end of shift stop and wait for him. It was only a block from my apartment, so it was always better than agonizing over the knife for another day. He would see me coming, and climb into the truck and grab it for me.

Hopefully it turns up!

What exactly does the tracking number last say.

I had a phone stolen by Fedex not too long ago (Lumia 920).
It was lost at "arrived at destination sorting facility". Didn't get scanned afterwards apart from arrival. Even the Fedex rep himself said yeah it was probably stolen, since after arrival it shouldn't have been touched for several scans more.

Well, the knife showed up yesterday just before closing. I must say I was relieved; XM18s are a bit hard to find without paying through the nose. I think the big problem with the whole event has been Fedex customer service. I'm not exagerating to say I felt like I knew more than they did about where the package was when I was talking to them, and I was told a few times that "your packge will be delivered tomorrow" when it was obvious the person didn't have any idea where it was. They were just trying to get me off the phone.
Regardless, it all ended well. I'm happy it wasn't stolen, which was my first instinct. It's funny how much anticipation there is before I have a knife delivered, and how much anxiety I experienced when something went wrong.
