did Hinderer knives lose popularity?

I was looking for folders between 350-500$, sorted my search to 'popularity'(best selling) and noticed that the Hinderer models showed up on the very last pages. Most popular were the CRK Sebenzas.

So is it true, do the Hinderers not sell that well these days? What could be the reason?

Hinderers are still selling...it's a matter of personal preference. For me, I have two of each; but it's the Hinderers that actually get carried (and I carry the MP-1 far more often than my XM18). My MP-1 is one of the G10 versions; and, truth be told, I've been fighting the urge to jump on one of the full Ti"s. (If I didn't have a more expensive knife in the works, I would definitely have done so...as it is, I'm thinking about sending the MP-1 scales off for a color change.

Zt does a better hinderer. Also the zt's don't use Teflon washers.

But with that said. Hinderer's are still great knives. Well built and popular. For a long while they could not keep up with demand and the prices were going through the roof for what was no more than a $300-400 knife. Now they are more in line with correct pricing. Less talked about now than when they were in limited supply.

I just find it a bit strange that the Sebenzas are the best selling between 350-500$, and the XM 18's are the worst selling.

I've seen many people here who were not really impressed by the Sebenzas/Inkosis and called them definately 'overpriced'

Sebenza hold value really well and are the highest quality and tolerances. Not everyone likes them, but they hold or raise value and never de value unless heavily used, and even then those go for a healthy sum.

Not every one likes a basic frame lock folder. Some prefer bigger beefy and flipper knives.

CRK is Overpriced
RHK is Overpriced
Benchmade is Overpriced
CPK is Overpriced
GEC is Overpriced

If you read enough threads here everything is overpriced so buy what you like and take some pictures with your overpriced smart phone and post them with your overpriced data plan.

Dude, chill a bit.

Did I say anywhere that I want to buy the least overpriced knife? No.

In fact I was just curious why the Hinderer's are on the last page and why CRK on the first. Until now I wasn't interessted so much in knives +300$. Browsing in some older threads showed that there was a huge hype about the XM- 18. I just wondered what has changed.

User17, I wouldn't take it too personally. GermanyChris is probably offering commentary really on the general knife buyer. General consumer. Very tongue in cheek. Especially the bit about the phone. I guess I tend to buy "overpriced" stuff to be honest. But in my head I'm "buy once, cry once." I like to think I'm buying quality. But I agree with the overall sentiment, buy what tickles your fancy. Then show us and tell us about here :)

Hinderers because less "popular" when they became more available.

Before prices where high and flippers were happy. Now that you can get them anywhere for cheap they're less desirable.

Everyone wants a super exclusive knife that they can fidget with and put up on IG. When everyone has that same knife though things are sad.

Supplies changed. Demand was there but now there is supply.

I think demand is still there but prices and availability are now very good. Some folks didn't like the hype that was created when supplies were low so it was hyped up more back then.

If you want to try a good $300+ knife try anything that Reate makes (they also make other brands for example Todd beg).

Also Freeman outdoor gear 451 folder. You'll love the quality. It's a button lock flipper. You can choose between options. D2 or s35vn blade and aluminum or titanium scales with different inlay choices. Great action. Check youtube for some awesome reviews of it. USA made and designed. I think he's really good friends with hinderer. This knife is not as well known/advertised but amazing like the other brands mentioned in the op.

Nothing changed and honestly I don't think anyone is assailing you so no need to get on the defensive.

The same thing happened to Hinderer that happens to many knife companies. They were becoming popular and everyone was talking about them. Now everyone knows about em so the conversation is over. That doesn't mean it isn't popular still and a good knife.

However at the beginning Hinderer could not keep up with demand and the knives become extremely desireable and developed a sort of legendary status about them. If I remember correctly they were only being sold directly to service members at one point which meant for the average collector to buy one they would have to pass through a service member's hand first and that would raise the price too.

Hinderer blades are more popular than ever. They are being sold by all the major online retailers and over the past two years have increased production. RHK is pumping out knives as fast as they can produce them.

I an a Zt fan but my Zt Hinderer models do not compare to RHK in fit and finish. They may have a better flipping action but ZT's build quality is not on the same level. Take each knife apart and re assembly them ten days in a row. By day ten, the Hinderer still goes together perfectly. Many of my Zt's have cheap screws with a loads on loktite on them. Centering takes a little more effort also.

I'm reposting this on my IG...

Truth bomb dropped!

Do to increased supply Hinderer no longer has that exclusivity factor, which basically means it now costs $200-$300 less to get the same knife. I own & like them, but do consider the Sebenza a better all around pocket knife

I think Hinderers are still great knives but I think the market went crazy for awhile selling for 3 or 4 times what their MSRP were ... and now that craze is over and you can buy them for a decent price the "shiney new unicorn" phaze wore off slightly.

I have and love my Hinderer knives ... but have said like someone above ... ZT has almost came in and did Hinderer better then Hinderer.

I guess each will have their fans and haters and those that think both are over priced ... but I love my CRKs and my Hinderers and think you should just buy whatever it is that you prefer.

The market just self adjusted finally I think ... don't think the sky is falling ... not quite yet anyway.

Now if you just feel the need to pay $1800.00 again for a Hinderer I think I could be persuaded to sell ... just saying ...
