Did my girlfriend buy me a fake s110v paramilitary 2?!

So I didn't even think of this when I got it. She gave it to me and it looked and felt perfect next to my all black and brown/satin versions that I got from stores that I can go back to if I have a problem. But she bought this knife on the bay from someone who said they got a couple and were flipping them. Sounded good to me. Knife and packaging all looked correct. But I read something somewhere in the forum that sent me down the fake paramilitary 2 rabbit hole and gosh apparently some of them are really really close to the real deal. My only real life, look at the knife, concern with this one is the thumb ramp jimping. It doesn't look quite right and people pointed this out in other threads.
So what do you guys think? I can't believe back in October they would already have reproduced this particular variation and had them ready to ship locally. She got with standard shipping in 3 days.

If this is fake it's between you and I, guys, I don't want my girlfriend knowing she blew over 150 on a counterfeit. Sigh...

I just pulled several out of inventory that are recent models and the jimping does look slightly different. Hard to say. I hope for you and your girlfriend that it is the real deal. Unfortunately this is the risk you take when you buy of the bay. Regardless thumbs up to her for trying to get you such a cool gift!

I am sure some members much more versed on this subject will come along soon.

I'm not familiar with all the handle colors. But the blade and jimping look pretty spot on to me. How does it feel in the fit and action? Buying off bay can be a crap shoot, but I think you got lucky with the real deal. Enjoy.

Doesn't look off to me, but I'm comparing to my military.

If you can't return it, and if the seller has a decent rating, you should be able to- but if you can't, why torture yourself?

Use it. Enjoy it. Stop making yourself paranoid over this.

How are the grinds and overall action?

Zero

Ramp jimping looks fine to me. Comparing to M390, CTS-204P, and S35VN models here in front of me.

Pointed a bit more back near the top of the ramp and a bit more up near the bottom, relatively sharp points, slightly rounded in the valleys, first valley looks a tad bigger and more circular than the others. Exactly what I'm seeing.

I wouldn't worry about it at all.

With S110V on the blade and the blurple G10, I very much doubt it's a fake.
I say that because I was very recently looking closely at fake Para 2's, and other folder clones, on a Chinese website known for selling them, and I saw no sign of a blurple S110V fake. (Before someone thinks otherwise, no I never buy clones).

I think you have no cause for concern. Just my opinion.

You said the jimping on yours raised your concerns after reading other threads here. There can be some differences in the jimping among real Para2s perhaps.
Also, the angle of looking at them or taking pics can make them seem a bit different sometimes.

Here's a few pics of one of my Para2s that I guarantee you is genuine, to try and illustrate what I'm saying. How does it compare to yours?

If you have other Para2s as you say, then you should be able to 'feel' if it seems genuine by using it, opening and closing it, seeing how the edge holds up.

BTW, you have a great GF.

coldmrk , looks like a real one .

there is spderco sub-forums , you can ask for this to the MOD.

You should be able to tell real quick between s110v and Chinese junk steel. Just use it. That model being faked so quick is unlikely

Looks legit to me.

I second the notion that you'll quickly be able to tell the difference between S110V and Chinese junk steel.

Go kiss that girl bro!! It's real! Looks almost exactly like mine. I have 4 Para 2s.....if you get crazy analytical......you can spot tiny differences in the jimping.
Those scales are gonna be tough to duplicate!
Enjoy it! You won't believe how well it will hold an edge!
And go give her another kiss!!
Cool chick!

The jimping would be a cause for concern if it was an S30v blade. What does the cut out around the compression lock look like? How about the milling on the liners? I have not seen any s110v fakes. Do they even exist?

I don't think so Cray. Mainly because no one knew the exact color till they were on the shelves, or ready to ship to distributors.
Also, that's a tough color to reproduce. I recall Sal stating they had to buy a ton of it after they decided on the color.

Thanks guys, everything else about the knife was totally spot on. And it feels exactly like a new Spyderco should.
This must be a case of Internet induced paranoia.

I have an s110v I just compared to, and you look good!

Last check for me, look in the liners, are there tiny cut outs in the metal liners?

show the other side I can tell from the other side and the lock up area around it

An old saying "don't look a gift horse in the mouth." Doesn't her good will and love trump all else?

Marry her, quick! She bought you the much sought after new S110V with the new color royal blue scales.

I also don't think it's a counterfeit, plus if you want to be sure, sharpen it! S110v is really different on a stone than 8cr13 that the clones use
