Did USPS Priority Mail previously include some insurance at no charge?

I won't do business with someone on these terms. It doesn't conform to Bladeforums policy, either.

The buyer is obligated to get the money to the seller.
The seller is obligated to get the item to the buyer.

If the item is lost in transit, it is the seller's responsibility to replace it or refund the money.
THAT'S what insurance is for. When everything else goes wrong, the shipper will reimburse the insured seller for the lost item.

I see that this is a big problem and I see thread after thread about this. here is my advice. 1 make it where the buyer has to sign for it. 2 screw paypal money order only.
I know you probbly dont like these ideas but the chances of you being ripped off and being messed over by paypal goes down to nil. I want to wish you the best in luck.

GOOD NEWS from post office.....both domestic priority mail and insured mail can be tracked, insured by insurance #. BAD NEWS.....insurance means nothing to PO, nada, zilch. I had a small package insured for $50 that was lost in October 2011, and I still haven't received my $50. Local postmaster says there is nothing she can do about this and when I asked for the name and contact of someone who could....she told me she can't give out that information. My usual knife delivery is via priority mail insured and this is relatively inexpensive and about as secure as any other means. Any parcel insured for less than $200 can be delivered without a signature.
RE Paypal.....so easy and tempting, BUT.....expensive and if you ever have a problem in their view, they'll freeze your account until THEY are satisfied with outcome. I do not allow them access to my checking account for many reasons.

If you had a receipt showing the amount your item cost, you can easily send it in to the postal service and they WILL refund not only your lost item's cost, but the postage you paid to mail it. I know I've done it and your post office should give you the paperwork to send in. I'm sure you can look online, if the local post office really won't help you. (which is nearly unbelievable that they won't)
