Did you pass on the NMFBM?

The 'cool' factor has to be way up there with this knife. This blade will certainly become a well coveted classic, and, I am hard pressed to see if Jerry can create something better in an all-round bowie configuration. If I am correct, this may be his 'perfect' survival blade.

I think is way to big and heavy for a survival blade. A perfect chopper prolly. No I did not pass I ordered 3 of them:) I can't wait. Has to be one of my fave's

oh yeah, you hit several good points.

The LE version just might be the most awesome Busse blade (IMO), and certainly the best end of the world survival knife, unfortunately I gotta watch my expenses, otherwise this is THE knife to get!

It just didn't do it for me. Yes, it's beautiful and as a safe queen it might be OK, but it has no use in the real world.

Extremely high rating on the "awesome" scale, but little real world use. If it was half the thickness, it would be the most bad-ass machete to ever stomp the earth, but as it is it's too thick and heavy to be practical.

I wonder how heavy it actually is? My thoughts were leaning towards the idea that it was a more slender version of the .32 fatty that has high acclaim. .32 is perhaps almost too thick for some of us. For many years I liked the performance of the Basic 9, it was thick enough for most prying applications, but I had sharpened the edge to the point where I finally quit chopping the hard stuff, using an axe instead. What I liked about the Basic 9 was the balance. The NMFBM looks like it should be perfectly balanced. If it cuts anything like my Dogfather, I'll be happy and then some, but what I really like is the 'look' of the knife. The handle seems perfectly proportioned relative to the blade length. Again, I think you'll kick yourself if you let this one slide.

Yep. That 's the way I see it, too, Matteo. It is an awesome knife, but too big and heavy to carry around. Bet it chops well, though.

To answer your opening title, "yes". Glad you boys are buying them up though. I want to see the big knives out of Jerry's system for awhile.;)

Can you imagine what Ban and Randucci could do with it??

I didn't even try to resist. I've got mine on order.

Too heavy and thick? For some, indisputably yes. For others, undeniably no. I'm old and gray, but if it's only 1 ounce heavier than an FFBM, it will be no problem for me ... pack-mounted or perhaps sling-mounted. Different folks make different choices.

Admittedly, I would never head out with just the NMFBM ... a smaller-sized blade would also come along.

I'm in for one. I decided that everyone needs at least one Battle Mistress and all of mine are in new homes.

The fact that they are comparatively skinny is sauce for the goose.

I passed on em. As much as I'd love to but one of the LE's, I really dislike hand shaped handles. If the handle was a magnum textured handle and not hand shaped, I'd have been all over it. As it stands, I really don't feel like buying one.

Things were just too tight for me this time... As a rule, I try to always buy one of everything that Jerry puts out, but it's just bad timing. I see this one quickly (2-3 years) becoming a Grail knife and being very hard to come by.

Congrats to all that got one, and PLEASE post tons of pics!!!

Too tight here too......Hurricane funds...surgery bills.....If Busse would take gift cards ......I have Lowes, Thompson Cigar, and Circuit City gift cards.......no cash...

IF YOU HAVE A SPARE LET ME KNOW!!!!!

I had one on order. It is a most impressive knife, but not one that I would likely use much. It is a bit heavy to use as a machete and I have many of those. It is also a bit expensive. With back to school expenses for my daughters and funds a little tighter than they have been, I cancelled. I don't blame anyone for getting one, though. Heck, if I had more money, I'd get the LE. It will surely become an icon as the ultimate Battle Mistress.

I'm used to HI blades, 20" siru for light work and an 18" ang khola for heavy work, both at 1/2" thick - so the idea that the nmfbm not being a real world use type knife seems weird to me. it's a knife thats fairly dedicated to de-limbing, chopping and splitting wood.

but I am poor, so I passed :(

I imagine it will be very very similar to the rat daddy from swamp rat.
