Different vibes from Kershaw, Spyderco and Benchmade?

It is hard for me to define, but I get a different feeling about my knives from each company. Could just be the marketing...

Kershaw = high tech with a little dixie flair?...corvette
Spyderco = all business & class...mercedes
Bechmade = a military feel...Hummer?

your thoughts? Please add other companies

ZT-- more military feeling than benchmades IMO. And I've held all of benchmade's military folders...

Great assessment on Kershaw's being a corvette--best bang for buck.

Cold Steel - Edsel

....JUST kidding; I couldn't resist :)....I own a SRK and think highly of it.

I'd say....Cold Steel - Chevy

- regards

I equate Spyderco with Subaru.
Not the prettiest car on the lot, but a tough reliable vehicle,if treated right, it will go for miles and miles and miles. :p

Me too.

Kershaw: Hates left-handed people.
Benchmade: Hates everyone who shops on the internet.
Spyderco: Loves everyone, has been known to cause Skittles to fall from the sky.

Yeah, thats a good analogy. I dont think of Spydies as being particularly military either.

And that, gentlemen, about sums it up.

MOD= Ford. Ya either love them or hate them. =D Personally, I never go anywhere without my CQD Mark 1 on my side.

Kershaw doesn't hate lefties... Hawk designs are drilled for lefties (and function better for lefties too, IMO), and the Zing and OD-1...

The Hawk designs are the only ones that count. I'm looking at their product line on knifecenter in another tab as I type this and I can say that all their other folders was designed, not just to ignore the needs of the small unwashed, but to actually exclude them. We don't just go away if you close your eyes to us Kershaw!

I mean, holy shit, the Zing and the OD-1 are liner locks. Is this 1986? We're going to have liner-locks as ambidextrous now? Not to mention the OD-1 has all the sex appeal of a pair of high-waist bloomers.

Notice how the popular designs, the Junkyard dogs, the Chives/Leeks, the ZT series, all the popular designs are exclusive to righties. We get the fourth-string "OD-1." No one is going to be prowling eBay in 15 years trying to snag a "Zing" because they heard how it was the crowning achievement of the knife world in 2009. There won't be any OD-1 sprint runs in a few years, they're boring designs that probably got drilled for lefties on accident and resulted in the guy in charge of that station being fired.

:mad:

I'm so damned fired up I need to go rub my face with my new JD Smith. Oh! 4-way clip! 12 holes! Yes! Tip-up! No, no, do it tip-down! TIP-DOWN! OH GOD! YEEEEESSSSSSS!

(( It's not necessary to denigrate a product you don't like to make your favorite look better.
It's not appropriate on this forum to do so with vulgarity. Cool off. ))

I have an OD1 and I can close it easily with my left hand. It's also a frame lock, not a liner lock.
