Differential Heat Treat?

Especially when my name is attached:eek: I have my reputation, and you have not so much as bought me dinner yet Karl:D .
I was only in Janesville for one night, so I didn't get much of a chance.
Maybe I'll have to send you a coupon!
Or Blade maybe!
I state publicly that I owe you! I'll get even!

No idea at all.

I want to apologize for the previous post I made... I'm a pinch scratchy today, and another member on this forum has me kind of punchy. I owe the people here more respect, and as such I'm sorry.

My stance, I think, has been pretty clear regarding the differential quench (which should really be referred to as the 'incomplete quench'). I think I'm beginning to relate to some of the followers of science here... fighting myth with fact isn't necessarily as easy as one would be lead to believe.

Kevin's right, though... this forum is one of the last bastions of progressive thinking for simple (read 'non-stainless') steels.

I've always done a full quench on my smaller blades-hunters, skinners, etc. and an edge quench on the larger fighting/survival knives. I gotta admit, I'm learning a thing or two here. I've always said, A man could live to be 100 years old and still learn something new every day of his life- as long as kept an open mind.

No, no, no.
In all fairness to the ABS, it is not stated that it is "proper" heat treatment. They just want to know that a fellow CAN do it.
Personally, I take mine to full hard.
I can thank Kevin for that.

I stand corrected, This is what i was trying to convey. I Just didnt word it correctly. I didnt think or mean to slander the ABS in anyway.
