Disappearing acts

The best way to avoid flakes is to price the item fairly.

That just make zero logical sense.....

There is no way to avoid flakes. However you can avoid them impacting your sale. Nothing is marked sold or SPF until money has exchanged hands. Don't linger in allowing them time to initiate payment, especially if others are in line. Membership level, time of stay, and post count do mean something. How serious the person is about being part of the community is important. Flakes generally don't stay long.

I don't know if you are making a general statement or if you are referring to one of my FS threads. I am not going to reference my FS threads in this sub forum because anybody can search and find them. However, that said, if you are referring to one of my threads, I can assure you that what I am trying to sell is priced very favorably and fairly for the buyer. I still get the flakes though.

I've had guys hold up a sale due to disappearing. One guy said he would "Take it" then nothing for a day. I told him how and who to pay, but nothing. After I sold to another member, he writes me all pissed off. I just chuckle and move on.

This is why I now put in my sales thread... " immediate communication and payment" gets it. You have an hour to pay then I move to the next person in line. It sounds to be unreasonable to some, but it cuts out the waiting a day to find out the buyer doesn't want it, and the next in line found something else.

Yep, that's it...many times I have read, don't take anyone on, just contact a mod! So I try that and no response...Not a big deal here, just wondered what I missed...thanks for the f/u

I'm sorry we didn't make contact on this one. The best way to get us involved is to Report Post. That's the triangle icon in the lower left corner of a post. A box will open up for your message, which will go to the Back End, the moderators' forum. Then we can all see it and talk about it if necessary, and take action.

Great - thanks, I did not know how to do that...

I had one guy ask me to take 600 for a knife I was asking 700 for. Since that was what I had in the knife I said sure I can take 6. He says well, if I get the money I'll let you know. Very annoying to negotiate a deal with someone only to find out they were wasting your time all along! Not much to do about it though, besides avoid them.

That's just plain aggravating!Or, have the guy make an offer, you accept, THEN he starts asking a bunch of question about the knife. Another way to get on my ignore list.
