Let me start by saying that this has always been my go to site for knife knowledge and researching for blades that I am about to purchase. I will also say that it is made clear that this is a family friendly site and the moderator's do an excellent job of keeping the posts clean and on topic. I am not a paying member, but I will admit that as much a I visit the forums that I should by a membership and avoid what I am about to rant about. Here's my problem. As I was sitting here with my 9 year old son looking for a knife for his upcoming birthday, one of the banner ads that pop up was advertising a porn site and had a picture of a topless woman bending over with skin tight pants that may as well been painted on her as you could see every detail. Guys I know that this is the Internet, and if I want to see a woman with a rear the same size as John waynes getaway horse's I will look elsewhere. Don't get me wrong. I love the forums, but do you guys have any control of the ads?

Clear your cookies, it should help. I think most of the advertising is done according to where your information has been cached and cookies picked up and deposited.

I know that when I was not a paying member, I never saw anything like that. I don't know how things work on this site, but I do know that some advertisements are generated based on your search history or something like that.

Yeah, I believe the ads are based of your past (or at least your computers) past history... lol...

Stop checking out those sights when he's not around. Seriously, it doesn't advertise unless as mentioned your cookies store it. When you look up certain websites they target the ads for that, albeit whichever provider you have wouldn't have any control nor the forums.

I've yet to see any even remotely risqué advertisements on this website. I realize I run the risk of sounding patronizing, but it seems very likely that the problem is on your end - cookies, viruses, etc.

Regardless, I would suggest using a browser with adblocking capabilities, like Firefox or Chrome.

this happens when I visit on my phone, too. only the pop ups are really hard to get around and completely mess up your browsing.

never noticed on my compute because I have abp on Firefox.

This is not directly responsive to your question, but you have the option of a PG Platinum membership which gives you 1) no ads, and 2) no adult forums. Thats what I have, and in fact Spark created it after I whined about the adult threads popping up when I hit the "new posts" link. Its spendy, but well worth it if you are a heavy BF user like me and don't want your wife and kids to see hard R or X rated subject matter when they walk past the computer.

I personally have never had this happen. And this is the first I've heard of it.....not calling you a liar, I'm sure it was to do with you're browsers cookies...

Have a good night!

I created a very similar thread when I was new...
Brings back the old memories of 3 days ago :D

But seriously, you gotta stop the porn watching cause the cookies are what gets ya.

Or a totally different browser for that kind of stuff - say, Firefox for one thing and Chrome for another.

I'm disappointed because I don't have topless women popping up when I'm browsing this site. If we could some how work bacon into the mix that would be pretty close to perfection.

Just go to pirates cove, all the girls you want.

This is the first time that I've ever heard of something like this happening. My advice, clean out your cookies and install an add blocker.
