I don't like discussing finances with anyone, but BFC doesn't make a ton of cash. If it did, I wouldn't have 1SKS open, believe me I'd much rather sit at home collecting a paycheck while playing with my son.
You want to know why I have BFC open? The real reason?
This came to me last week from a knifemaker on here. He sent it to me after he shared with me a video where he basically broke down and thanked me for having the forums because they changed his life. He went from being in debt, unhappy with his job and constantly worrying to being a full time maker and does enough business through the forums to live more than comfortably.
I do this because it's a service to the community. The site about pays for itself (mostly). It sure as hell doesn't make enough to pay for my mortgage, health insurance or feed me & my family, much less the mods.
Manufacturers aren't charged a dime to be here. Knifemaker's can have a forum here provided they have a knifemaker's membership. Overall it's a great community because you guys make it so, not because I'm draining it of $$$$
I don't require people have paid memberships to be on here, to read, to search, or to post (other than posting in the for sale areas). If you can't handle a couple banners to help float the bills, I don't know what to tell you.
