Disappointed with S110v Paramilitary 2

Many PM2s will loosen up, but I have a a few that came super tight, and no amount of lube, patience, or pivot adjustment would find a balance between smooth action and no blade play. It isn't that big deal to me, and my EDC is actually one that is still too tight to free fall, but I can see how it might bug others.

Neither of the two issues that you OP said is an issue IMHO. I worry more if a new knife falls close on its own weight than if it is a bit stiff.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your PM2; mine came the same way as yours and it broke in fine. By the way, you didn't mention your assesment of the most important aspect of the knife, how well it cuts. Use it to cut something in the kitchen, the garden, or at work, and then judge it.

I've owned 6 different PM2s and still have 3 of them. Each one was/is different. All of them have been smooth with no lock stick, but some are looser than others. I also have 6 different Manix 2s that are each different. Maybe I don't use my knives all day every day but I haven't noticed any of them changing with time. If I wanted the looseness of the blade to change I would just adjust the pivot screw. I think it is interesting that a blade drops when I push the lock but for EDC use I actually prefer a little friction in the pivot. Drop the blade on a Manix 2 XL while you have a bit of finger in the wrong place and you will wish you had some friction.

It will smooth in time . Like a Browning O/U they always came stiff. So I recommended the next time you watch a dumb movie on TV , open and close the action about 100 times . Then it will be fine ! Put in a bit of lube when you do it .

Hi! Agree with most of all here: give her some time, she will loosen up and you’ll learn your preferred opening/closing methods :) . Like in a marriage, you’ll both naturally smooth the respective sharp corners and live happily ever after :D. I have the plain S30V model. Mine came rather stiff, I “played” with it a bit and adjusted the pivot. I prefer it on the stiff side though, the “free fall” it’s dangerous for me and my type of use. I like it to the point I can close with one hand but it doesn’t fall free. But that’s just me :). Had similar issues with my Lionsteel TRE (in my pocket this week), it came new as a very lazy flipper. After repeated use, disassembly, cleaning and lube it’s much better now! Not an auto by all means, but to a decent level for a flipper. Still bit lazy, but not like in the beginning! Enjoy the PM2 in good health!

I bought my first 2 PM2's this last month. They are nice, and I may just be spoiled from my knife assortment that I already had. I thought the handle was not very comfortable and the handle was very long, not great in the pocket. Other then that, they are great, and everything functions great on them. My S110v Manix 2 was a great design, wish I didn't get the LW version though.

I usually never have a knife fall under its own weight when closing, if that happens, I tighten up the pivot so it will slowly close with a jiggle. Lock stick will either go away or can be a super easy fix. Some knives do need to be broken in. Anyways, hope your next purchase is a good one! Good luck!
