So I decided to go ahead and post this message and be the bad guy.
After I got home last night from the Eugene show I was finally able to see the pics that were posted of the knives that were available at Knob Creek and compare them to the knives that were available at Eugene. All I can say is the piglets that showed up at the Eugene show were given the short end of the stick. Now I don’t know how everyone felt there but I know a few weren’t happy about it. Now I’m not talking about Hog tactics like getting there right when the show opens and grab 10 Sars coughRanduccicough. That’s fine, I actually don’t have a problem with that, it was the quality of selection and the quantity that was sent that bugged me. Hopefully for future shows that Busse attends in the west that its fans aren’t treated like second class citizens. Sorry if my words are a little harsh just trying to get it off my chest because it is how I feel.

Now on the other hand knives weren’t the only reason why we traveled so far. We went there to put names to faces. I have to say all the guys we met were great, not a single bad apple in the bunch(even those Canadian guys eh). I’d also like to say thanks the Skunk and his team of guys working the table. Everyone was friendly, helpful and great to talk with. Hope to meet you all again soon.

Oh, and No Regrets! ;) :D

I already have my first two SAR5s in hand, thanks to my proxy.

I totally agree with the first part of you posting! We in the West get no love! We needs the Busse crew to come to the Vegas Classic or the Oregon show!

I don't think you're being too harsh bro. It is what it is....the shows back east tend to get most if not all of the attention. Larger crowds, more money to be made, more demand, and so on. I don't think it's personal, more of a business thing.

Hopefully it will get better as our numbers increase and maybe in a few years the HOGs of the east will be having to travel here for the good chit!:p

Thanks for posting this Jeremy. Hopefully you don't get flamed for it and if you do........pretend you don't know me.;)

.

That sucks, but at least Busse does shows somewhat close to you, never seen them anywhere but Blade and Knob creek, not exactly neighbors to Minnesota, oh well I was working my @ss off anyway so I didn't have time to play, you know what it's like walking by a huge table of Infi not being able to stop, the horror.:grumpy:

I feel you though, now what did ya get.:D

guys, don't be offended, don't think that you are being treated like second class citizens.
you are comparing the Eugene show to KNOB CREEK for pete's sake.
knob crrek always gets some really special sh1t and lots of it.
that's why we have knoboganzaa's, not eugenoganzaas.
i mean the closest show to me is BLADE, but that's a 15 hr ride.

Well it could be worse, you could live in Europe. Have no shows that Busse attends and have to fight customs tax on every purchase.

I look forward to the day I get my qualification then i'm moving to the US.

That's a little extreme of a comparison.

I realized last year that all shows are not created equal . Blade doesnt work for me , so its knob creek once a year. The cancellation of the show was like somebody cancelled Christmas . I want guns and knives so its wait until Oct . for me.

Jeremy, as others have said I am sure it is not personal. Jerry is fair in his dealings and I am sure he will take your opinion into consideration. I can't speak for him or as to why the Eugene show got what it did, but I am sure there was some logic behind it. Was this the first time anyone represented Busse at this show? It could be that he didn't know exactly what would go over and he didn't want to risk losing a ton of high end customs in a shipping fiasco (we all know this happens more often than it should in this day and age of high tech package tracking). His people drove the stock to Knob and so he had assurance that it would get there with no losses. Just something to think about, at least it is one thing that came to my mind when considering the issue.

As for the convenience of some shows to others I can sympathize. It is relatively rare for Busse to do any shows really close to me either (the Chicago Custom Show a year or so ago being the exception) and so if I want to catch something I have to make a decent drive and time commitment as well. The drive to Atlanta with toddlers and babies isn't always fun and games. :D But when you consider Jerry can either have his crew making knives or out at shows trying to sell them, what do you think is the best use of his time and capital? Jerry, if you need to branch out to IL, maybe Hammy would drive over and I would be glad to help him. ;)

I TOTALLY AGREE!! I am not able to travel to the other side of the country to go to a knife show.Theres a lot of HOGS over here in the west, why do we get the short end of the stick? Busse should go to the Blade Show West, and I mean all of them, including BOSS HOG!

I would love to see a show here in KA-BOOM Afghanistan............. BTW, what are the dates for BLADE? or has it already taken place.

Take care BROTHERS!

Gimmejr,

I think that historically Knob creek has always been a huge event and the shows out west were pretty small. That may be changing in that the western shows are getting bigger but it will take some time for Jerry to get that message since he NEVER comes out here, and when Skunk tells him things are growing in the West he just figures Skunk is drunk again or Jerry is too drunk to remember.

But it does remind me of setting up my dad's estate plan. I told him to start gifting assets and he said. "If I let all the honey out of the jar the bees won't come around." And I replied "Well dad the lid is on the jar so tight the bees don't know there is any honey here."

Soooo.... maybe Jerry could help the western shows by sending more honey. And I don’t mean AMY-0… not that that wouldn’t help

I see where you're coming from. It's equally tough for people who live farther out of the loop and/or can't spare time and money to travel long distances to a show. Consider the logistical angle - the shop can load up the trailer for Knob with whatever is finished up to that second, and drive down. At the end, anything not sold gets driven back. No lead time for shipping, no danger that some high dollar knife gets lost or damaged on the way there, or on the way back if it doesn't sell. (I'm just speculating. I'll defer to Jerry or someone actually involved who knows why decisions were made.)

One good thing about Hogs - it's no regrets at the trough, but when the dust settles you can knock a few back together and meet some good folks. Hope that end of the show lived up to your expectations.

try living in hawaii! :D

one year soon i will make the pilgramage to blade and meet everyone!

aloha all, till then it's bcs, ganzaa's, and exchange!

cheers!!!

Didn't mean to come across bitter was hoping to inject a bit of light relief into the situation.

I know I would be P.O'd at going to a show to find out another show had a far better selection. I can only presume that Jerry knows his market and where best to place his greatest amount of infi.
