Disappointed

The West has been getting more attention though. 360 Joules started things off with small displays around and now with Skunk and the Company Store setting up shop things are growing and that makes me happy.

This is a personal (and perhaps selfish) thing but I would like to see more combat grade knives at the shows out here. I marvel at the Custom Shop work. The quality and attention to detail are off the charts . I see all knives as functional art but these things are truly ART and I could not beat on them the way I do my other knives. Even if I don't find a Busse or Swamp Rat I want to buy at a show it has been worth it just to see the amazing work they are doing. That said...

It seemed like others at the table were like me... Combat Grade guys more so than collectors.

I'm still PO's that you guys have better beer up there in prime hops growing land than we do in the midwest! Can we say Willamette hops? Cascade hops??

I'm thinking there may have looked like a disparity of numbers because Grinducci got to 'em first! Fifteen customs?! Go, Brother Hog, go!!

guys, don't be offended, don't think that you are being treated like second class citizens.
you are comparing the Eugene show to KNOB CREEK for pete's sake.
knob crrek always gets some really special sh1t and lots of it.
that's why we have knoboganzaa's, not eugenoganzaas.
i mean the closest show to me is BLADE, but that's a 15 hr ride.

I would really only assume that 2 shows would get coverage here on the west, shot and blade west. otherwise I'm happy that busse shows up at all. since travel times aren't pretty going from east to west these days, if it weren't for skunk you probably wouldn't see anything here except at those two shows.

lol, that would be good times. the east coast gets the custom shop variants of currentish blades, and we here on the west get a full spectrum of past combat grade models. I'm sure the east coast guys would complain about us getting our pick of war boars, sfno's, active duties, skeleton keys, ak47's, fsh, NICKs, fbm's and force ones, all at combat grade low prices.

AMEN!!!!! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

My thoughts and Gimmejr's are not too far off. After the long drive home I went online to check out some pics of Knob Creek. Lets just say I was somewhat jealous ;).

Fortunately, I was able to meet a bunch of really cool hogs and finally put some names to faces. And yeah those cool canadians too EH!!!:cool::D That really made the trip worthwhile for me.

I too like alot of the west coast hogs would like to see more CG stuff.

While there may not have been a lot of the really high end stuff (or maybe it all got bought in 10 seconds), when I left mid Saturday afternoon there were still alot of nice knives left on the table, including some fairly nice customs. There were Chopweilers and RMD and M6 and S6 just waiting to be bought. There were probably 50 Busse's still there. This was the first time Busse has been to Eugene that I know of. It was great they were there. Cann't wait to Blade West.
I think, based on conversations at the table, what every one wants is a LOT more CGSFNO.
It was great to meet and talk to everyone there.

So I decided to go ahead and post this message and be the bad guy.
After I got home last night from the Eugene show I was finally able to see the pics that were posted of the knives that were available at Knob Creek and compare them to the knives that were available at Eugene. All I can say is the piglets that showed up at the Eugene show were given the short end of the stick. Now I don’t know how everyone felt there but I know a few weren’t happy about it. Now I’m not talking about Hog tactics like getting there right when the show opens and grab 10 Sars coughRanduccicough. That’s fine, I actually don’t have a problem with that, it was the quality of selection and the quantity that was sent that bugged me. Hopefully for future shows that Busse attends in the west that its fans aren’t treated like second class citizens. Sorry if my words are a little harsh just trying to get it off my chest because it is how I feel.

Now on the other hand knives weren’t the only reason why we traveled so far. We went there to put names to faces. I have to say all the guys we met were great, not a single bad apple in the bunch(even those Canadian guys eh). I’d also like to say thanks the Skunk and his team of guys working the table. Everyone was friendly, helpful and great to talk with. Hope to meet you all again soon.

Jeremy

Jeremy Your not being to harsh. Ban , Jeremy and myself drove along way on friday around 9 hrs and when we were about 3hrs from impact and found out there were only 4 Sars left it was like WHAT!! I know CRY CRY CRY:foot: We did get one each thanks to a guardian angel. I had a bad feeling before we left and saw the pics skunk posted of the sars going to Eugene and saw only 5 of each color that comes out to 25 sars and at the price they were being sold I knew that some Hogs would grab more then one. It would of been nice to see more combat grades but it is what it is. All in all it was great meeting skunk and his crew and the other hogs...hopefully next time if there is a next time the west coast hogs will get a bigger selection...don't get me wrong I know were lucky busse comes to some of the west coast shows and I thank Jerry and Skunk for that. but most were safe queens in my opinion....just my 2 cents

Well glad to see you cal hogs made it home, and didnt drive over a
"curb" or something like that Eh! It was a pleasure meeting you hogs:thumbup:Shows have always been that way,you have to find a way in first thing or else you might not find anything your looking for.And as far as customs,I agree with you,I would also like more cg busse:D

So..being a noob, I am going to ask a noob question...I live in MA, what it the closest show to me? Sorry that you were dissapointed..I have a brother that lives in Oregon, and he wouldnt go for me!!!! I wanted to choke him through the phone. Gene

he isn't your brother anymore. you realize that, right?

Didn't mean to come across bitter was hoping to inject a bit of light relief into the situation.

I know I would be P.O'd at going to a show to find out another show had a far better selection. I can only presume that Jerry knows his market and where best to place his greatest amount of infi.

Its business... Just like how ganzaaas are another form of marketing tactic..
Jerry has a huge facility to pay for , employees, overtime, and needs to make a profit....

Profit margin...there is more profit to be made when the guys that work for you sell them instead of someone that get a percentage.
