Discussion and Design of a Survival Knife

I have this knife but have been slow to get out and put it through its paces and get pics. I will say it is well though out and of excellent build quality.

Tranee, a tool is a tool and is chosen for the anticipated task. In a suburban or urban environment I would absolutely favor my SOG P60 over a knife. In the woods far from roads and machines, I favor my knife. A trained sniper with his well worn model 94 30-30 is more dangerous than a weekend warrior with an AICS- the right tool and the right skills for the situation always carry the day.

What a clean practical design the Voyager is. Really looks all business. It's been cool to follow the evolution of the Voyager. Plain to see a lot of thought has gone into it.
Great steel choice as well Chris. Have you considered A2 as a steel option? The extra rust resistance over 01 would be great for the west coast and still easy to field sharpen if necessary on a river rock.

Thanks.
I am a bit surprised at just how much thought I put into this knife.
I usually just draw some lines out and make it, but this one was very purpose built.
A2 has not been a consideration, but ease of maintenance is.
Some stainless versions are possible in the near future.

Chris, I really like the looks of this design. It falls right inline with what I consider an ideal survival knife. It has similarities of the Esee 6 and the Fiddleback production Duke which I regard as some of the best out there. I hope to check this model out at blade this year.

Thanks alot.
I hope to have a few at Blade in a couple different steels to choose from.
