  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Diseased Critters

I'm from Tennessee and was raised on squirrels and rabbits. Sometimes that's all we had. I don't remember any problems that I can think of.

I was always taught that it's best to wait till after the first good frost of the year before hunting rabbits. I guess the idea being that the sickly ones will die off while the healthy survive.

Not sure how true this is though. ...Mmmm thanks, now I'm hungry!

I would like to know what problems are faced if you just throw the whole animal on the fire like the Aborigine's do?

Calling Mick ... you there?

Can't speak for the Australian aboriginal peoples but in California this was not uncommon with small game. They would roast the skinned animal whole and then with a rock, pound and mash it up, bones and all, and eat the mash, so as to get as much nutrient as possible....
