false arrest - yes i know of this - my best friend, after recieving a trafficc ticket, didnt pay in the alloted time - a warrant was issued - he recieved notice of this and contacted the city atty (universal city, tx) and sent them a MO for the amount plus warrant fee - then forgot about it - 1 day at work (oh by the way he works for dyncorp, a civilian defense contractor, at randolph AFB) the air force security guys call him(he drinks beer w/them every fri night because he used to be a MP when he first went in the army) and tell him a cop is here to serve a warrnat on you - leave now - which he did out of a back gate - he goes home and calls the city atty and finds the MO stub - city atty cant find his paperwork and she also checks caller ID and sees hes at home and calls cop and tells him and cop procedes to his home - while on the phone w/city atty the cop knocks at the door and my bud answers it and the cop arrests - he sees the MO stubb, city atty not 100% sure what to do so he arrests-let the judge sort it out - he calls me and i drive from leander tx to seguin to get him out at 10PM and due to a mixup, they wont let me just pay his fine and pick him up-say he must go before judge - i go home arriving at 3AM - the cops apologize, big mixup, they should have released him then, to me but mess up(but dont release him, and offer him 'dinner, a bolgna sandwich, w/mustard, and a bag of fritos, carrot salad, and kool aid - look out emeril lol) - they take his clothes and give him prison garb at 2am, and 'delouse' him spraying a burning powder on his genital area to kill, well crabs i guess lol (told him he prob needed this w/all the barflies he sleeps with lol) ) anyway he is released in the morning, about 30 miles from work/home, has to hitchhike to get home, misses day of work, has to explain to boss WTF as he works in a high security area, - then the next day they(UCITY atty) find his file and his payment - total foul up on there part - they should never have arrested in the first place, strike 1, they shoulda released him when i showed up w/the $$, strike 2 - they really humiliated him, w/the delousing thing - this guy has no, zero, none criminal record - he decides to sue - finally finds a young guy to take the case on contingency basis, they settle out of court for $900, and have to write a letter to his boss ,explaining matters- lawyer got 1/3. so bud got $600 - not much $$ for all the aggravation, and his lawyer says do not go into guadalupe county again, the cops will be after you - but anyway hope you do better than him, he couldnt hardly find a lawyer who would even take it, and i would think its as open/shut case as any - lawyer said just not much $$ in false imprisonment cases in texas (resulting in imprisonment of only 24 hours or so anyway)- but dont let me deter you, my bud did get some personal satifaction out of it - by the way the initial offer from U-City was $147, which was based on his hourly wages somehow or another - shamefull, IMHO, and i work in law enforcement
another bud injured knee while playing softball - made an appointment w/austin orthapoedic, 1 of the best ortho clinic in austin tx - he arrived w/his grandmother driving him, and sat down in the waiting room - 10 minutes later 2 APD officers show up, and detain him (not arrest) because his name is (changed for privacy) jeff james, and a james jeffery tried to pass a fake script for valium about 2 months previously, and the office mgr, the detective in the bunch, decided my friend was the culprit because of the name similarity - i swear to god i am not making this up - the cops escort (push) him out of the office, the office mgr gives him a criminal tresspass warning, and they push him on out of the building, him screaming in pain, and his grandmother following along flipping out too - well the cops call the pharmicist where the script was tried to be filled, and the description of the suspect was totally differnent than my friend - they took off the handcuffs, and released him to his grandmother custody(?) (he said APD couldnt get out of there fast enough once they got the description of the suspect ) well he sued the clinic, but had to get a lawyer from out of town because no local atty's would touch it - they deal w/the clinic all the time in civil cases like wrecks, etc and didnt wanna cut there own throat - he finally got a letter from the dr apoligizing for the incident, and the office mgr lady was fired - no $$ at all - is that a a fluke or what - my bud has someone use almost his name from a dr were they stole a script pad and try to fill a script for valium, and he picks THEM to go to when he hurts his knee - all just coincidental though - but, i thgought he would get something out of it, but no. also shamefull imho- went elsewhere for his arthroscopic surgery, wonder the cops didnt hurt his knee worse as they were none too gentle removing him from the office, as they thought he was 'putting on' for pills
opened my eyes up i tell you, and this is the straight story, no embellishment on my part, couldnt believe it though....
