Disneyland/Solvang trip 2015

In all seriousness, kids are a blessing and not a curse...and our future....the most precious thing on the planet....enjoy....that's your REAL wealth...

We are blessed with just this one. We shouldn't even have had one, but we were very fortunate to receive this precious one.

I am the first survivor in the 16yo age group in Northern California who had Non Hodgekins Lymphoma Stage 4+ back in the mid 80's. I had an experimental protocol, unfortunately, one of the side effects was sterility. I had made peace with the fact that I wouldn't be able to have children in my 30's. After my wife and I had gotten married, she had heard that as long as I had 10K or more of my little soldiers, I could maybe still be able to conceive a child through IVF, even if they were immobile. We immediately went to see an IVF specialist (after saving up funds), and we were accepted into the program after much begging, and consultations (they do not like to accept older candidates, we were already 38 years old). The first round didn't bear fruit, our second try did. We were proud parents of twins, sadly, one demised in uterine in the first trimester, the other, well, she's in the pictures below! Each round is over $40K a try, we would try for a third, but sadly, our funds were tapped out, and trying to have a program accept couples 40 years old is extremely difficult.

So, we are very happy with our one, and we spoil her like crazy, but she is well disciplined, a good student, and she does not act like a spoiled brat, so we are very happy parents.

That's an amazing and inspirational story.. You are truly blessed my friend

You are a blessed man for sure.....and you DO have a treasure there....

I know the failed tries cost you both dearly and blessings upon you. A late friend of mine, crack shot, retired Texas State Police, Highway Patrol and Special Texas Ranger was diagnosed with that disease at 50 yrs of age, his was extremely aggressive and was told he had only months to live. His only daughter was unable to have children and so was his only son's wife. He successfully fought that disease another 14 years with the motto of "carpe diem" and thanked God for every new day as a special gift. His daughter miraculously conceived as did his daughter in law, and both children were able to get to know and remember their grandfather before he went on to his truly just reward.

Thank you, and your friend was a very lucky person indeed to have survived so long , and be able to see his family grow, and interact with them.

My mom's best friend from high school had a daughter, the daughter same age as me, and another daughter same age as my little sister....the friend's elder daughter a rare survivor from Hodgekins treatment available in the early 60's, massive radiation doses and also sterilized....and very short life expectancy....she went on to marry, have children, and grandchildren and only recently went to the better life, and that only from an undetected heart defect there from birth....
You, my friend, and your wife, should be around for those grand children and even great grandchildren if you take care of yourself. I have raised children from two wives previous marriages, and never had one of mine own. I teach Sunday school and thank parents for allowing me an hour a week with their children. You have a treasure there, for sure, and where your treasure is, there will your heart be also....i heard that from some guy....
