Displaying your knives

I just got this at Blade as a test run. The pressure of the glass/foam holds everything in place. I’ve seen an old ad of a company that made these before and they used double thick glass, this glass seems thin so it maybe a cheaper version (re:knockoff?) I’m not sure why it has a lock. Kids maybe?
Anyway, so far so good...

they're all pretty cheap knives, but the Mark 2 was my dad's. He told me he had one he brought back from the war which he had to sell after he left the army. Years later he found one and splurged because it was his birthday. That knife soon after was stolen from his car. Knowing all that, I found this one and gave it to him for his birthday several years ago, but then he died, so here it stays.

Looking for a magnet to put in my safe, they are tons of model, wood , metalic, etc are they gonna scratched my blade ? Never use a magnet for knife ever ..

I use the ones from harbor freight, with a strip of black electrical tape over it to cushion the blade...cheap and easy (a factor when you need 15 feet of them😂).

Displaying your collection comes at a cost. A permanent display can set you back a bit, and if the knives are left for two long there is a real risk of damage. The exposed side can change colors and fade as the hidden side develops unseen corrosion.

In plastic bag marked exhibit A.

Never cared about displaying. I've wanted a more organized way to store. Maybe make something out of wood like a silverware divider. At the moment in a big pile next to a big pile of sheaths, mixed in with bunch of other stuff.

I've got little people with curious hands in the house, so I'm more concerned with storage than display.

I whipped up some racks to use the unused space at the top of my safe. I made a bunch of 0.75" holes at 1" spacing in an oak board, then cut the board in half. The other end has a board with notches cut by the table saw to hold the blade upright. In hindsight I should have gone with 1" holes on 1.5" spacing, but this works. It's just a little crowded.
