Dissuading cats from my flower bed...

LOL , no , dont usually catch them in the act and bird poop washes off as opposed to acidic cat urine that etches chrome.
Dont get me wrong , I have popped two cats in the last few years and niether one was injured more than a little welt , I'm sure.

However there is this annoying Bluejay that insist's on screeching non stop outside my bedroom window around 7am every morning.
I'm thinking this bird is a candidate for some "copper therapy".

Maybe you should get a cat to take care of that bluejay. ;)

I would but I love them too much to own one, I just cant bring myself to keep one of the majestic creatures for a pet. :D
What's funny about that Bluejay is , I can walk outside up to 4-5 feet from it and it just sits there looking at me "sqwAAAAk! sqwAAAAk!" , I'm clappin my hands telling it to get lost , I am sure my nieghbors think I'm a loon.
I have a Dove in a nest on my patio , I'm wondering if the Bluejay isnt trying to eat the dove's eggs ?

can you say animal abuse..... its a cat man.... to shoot it cause it lives is just plain wrong..... deal with the problem, dont harm it.
Thank you...... You just earned a whole lot of respect in my book.
Let me know if you need a special Busse. I'll hook you up. ;)

Buy some ammonia and get some 35mm film canisters. Punch some holes in the canister lids, then put some ammonia in each one and place them throughout your yard. After a week or two you should never see another cat in your yard again (because they think that you have something BIG peeing around there, now).

Thats an easy one, I'm going to try it out.

Get a live trap from Cabela's, or a place like that. Then you can call animal control at your leisure. If it happens again, you can take it in to the Humane Society at a town, say, 100 miles away.

That's the only non-lethal solution I have. Lethal, I can give you a few more...

I like the box trap idea. My dads neighbors had a cow that repeatedly got out and would tear down my dads fence to get in with his cattle. Finlay he tied it up in his barn and waited for the owners to come looking for it. When they came asking if he had seen it he said he had one just like the one they are looking for and offered to sell them back their own cow. Obviously this didn't sit well with them and a argument broke out but it did send a message. In the end my dad bought the cow from them at a ridiculously low price.

By the way cats are very easy to trap but you should be prepared as you could easily find a coon or skunk in you trap too.

Spray( or have a friend that's an LEO) spray the loose dirt with O/C spray. Doesn't hurt the cat, but the O/C will persuade it to find another spot to do it's doody elsewhere.(usually rapidly)

Best solution, get a dog.

Unless you end up with one of those mutts that will barely open one eye to watch your cat take a dump in your flowerbed. No, the ammonia / mothball solution seems to work best.

live trap, pound.

Grow catnip in separate beds to draw them off. This will double as bait if times get really hard.... And I have read that it makes a mosquito repellant that is comparable to DEET.

Seriously, it is a cat, not a human. I despise people who go out of their way to cause any animal pain just to cause it pain, but it is an animal, not a person. We live in a country that kills over a million babies a year, but we are applauding someone who will go out of their way to rescue a cat in the pound. This is just plain upside down. it is a cat, not a person.

On the other hand, buying a conveyance that is so prone to a common source of damage, and then leaving it out to potentially be damaged, and complaining when it happens, well, what can I say?

It's a good day to get banned.

Grommit, this is not political; keep your off-topic opinions to yourself.

If I am translating this correctly;
otoh, you bought a car that is easily pissed on, then park it in your own driveway, where it is getting pissed on, and then you're pissed off?

Hey, vandalism is a common source of damage to houses; should I move that too?

or, you could just leave..

in my area, animal control will do nothing about cats, and the humane society only wants kittens... the options for keeping cats away from my yard (and yes I am in city limits) is a pellet gun, or a live trap (then taken to the woods and taken care of), a blow gun with blunts (just a closed ended cylendar that stings and doesn't kill), or if I feel like violating a city ordinance about firearms and as there is 38 acres of undeveloped land behind me, if said cat is in back yard the ole .22 works well. Over the last 10 years I have only had to kill 3 cats that were too stupid to stay away after being stung. In that 38 acres the quail like to nest and I much prefer to watch them than a cat, plus I can't stand it when a cat deficates in my driveway. I have 'removed' more Magpies as they are noisy as heck and will kill smaller animals, and I poison any pigeons on my property as they try to nest on the house and I have seen the damage to buildings that pigeons nested on (it ain't pretty folks, especially if the building is abandoned... 3 foot deep pile of feathers, dead birds and feces in the bottom of a quansit hut)

Hey Guys...

A 14.5gr 5.5mm Super H RWS pellet works wonders..Keeps the Coons out of the garbage..:)

If that doesn't work, pick up some Fox urine at your local hunting store..
That should work....

A fully auto air soft machine gun will work as well ... :)
