DLT Hinderer feeding frenzy

I swear I'll never try to get another knife at a DLT drop. Just tried again and no joy. I give up. I guess I'll pay scalper prices.

Just to be fair to DLT, I don't think this has much to do with them than with too many people/bots trying to buy the knife at the same time. This happens to all dealers/websites when a highly sought item is dropped. Ever since Rick Hinderer switched to his tri-way pivot system, the demand for Hinderer knives has been on a huge rise, and even more so for the no choil variants.

I think it is more about bragging rights and investment/flipping opportunities.

Well its certainly not about the dollar/utility ratio. A Delica slices better than an XM-18, and a $60 fixed blade is tougher. Unless one plans to flip on eBay, buying a Hinderer, CRK, Busse, et al., is all about feeling good. I've played that game, because feeling good is better than not feeling good.

Despite the advertising, Hinderer is not about performance or cutting stuff. Its about the acquisition, the fondling, the swell feeling of having an $800 knife in your pocket, and the good vibes that come with all of it. I can't fault a boy for that, because I've dropped stupid money on CRK and Busse back in the day too.

I really like to feel good.
