To the best of my knowledge the Razor Edge hones can only be ordered from Razor Edge.

I have done a fair amount of metal removal with the RE 8" coarse hone, mostly grinding down a thick convex edge on a Swamp Rat Battle Rat, a big chopping knife. I haven't used the hone enough to come to a definite conclusion about dishing but so far it's done very well with barely noticeable dishing. However, I use all areas of the hone to slow or prevent it. Haven't tried to flatten the hone since it doesn't need it. Maybe it never will if using all areas keep it flat enough.
It's been several months since I compared the D8XX with the RE, so my memory isn't fresh, but when I did I tried to use them both with the same pressure, technique, and length of time, to keep everything as equal as possible. However, since the D8XX is considerably heavier, and for some of the time I was using it on the knife, rather than the knife on it, overall I probably used the D8XX with more pressure. From what I've read it takes awhile for diamond stones to break in and cut optimally. I was using this one almost new, so there's likely another bias there, too.
Because it's been awhile and the comparison wasn't very scientific I don't feel real confident about giving out a number but I would roughly estimate the RE hone was about 30% faster, maybe even a little more. Next time I have to do some heavy metal removal I'll use both and see if I get the same result.

Thanks. Glad the D8XX worked out so well for you. If you or anyone else ever compares it with the RE coarse hone I'd be interested in hearing about the result.
