Do any of you guys no longer use folders?

though lately I've been carrying my endura, I've pretty much switched to fixed because right now my fixed are more badass. My Koster is awesome, my dogfish opens beers, and then I have the Nimvy.

At the end of the day, there are different people with different wants and needs. People should choose what they like, and remain open minded to the possibility that they may change their minds. I see no need to declare one knife better than another as sometimes happens in these threads (locks vs slip joints, folders vs fixed blades, carbon vs stainless...the list goes on).

I like what I like, but I might change my preferences over time.

I completely agree. A persons personal choice should be a heavy driver of what they carry. If you tell me nothing brings you more joy than strapping on a huge fixed blade on because you like the feel of "can do anything" then have at it. However, I struggle with the argument that your EDC should be a fixed blade because you might have to randomly baton a log or quarter an Elk. For most people driving to and from their in-city employment these just don't happen unplanned.

I think a lot of people are over looking the fact that fixed blade doesn't necessarily mean a big blade. There are many fixed blades that would fit the bill for EDC. Smaller knives, and neck knives are great, compact, and sheeple friendly.

Look at some of Bark Rivers new offerings: The City Knife, The Essential EDC, any of its smaller knives are also wonderful for EDC.

I pick my daily carry based on what I will be doing. In the woods, I carry a big knife, and a small knife. Everywhere else I usually carry my umnumzaan. Though I want to grab some fixed blades for EDC, as there are some amazing knives that are nice and compact. (CRK Pro Soldier, Murray Carters Neck Knives, BRKT Essential, BCNW Celilo, and the list goes on). There are also quite a few folders i want for the purpose of EDC (CRK's, Striders, Spyderco's, Benchmades, Kershaws, all the big names, my list is huge ;)).

So yeah, I love knives, whether they be fixed or folded. :D

I prefer a small fixed blade, the folders are slower to get out of the pocket, get turned around easily. I can pop off a sheath much quicker.

I have been thinking about trying to find a good fixed blade for EDC but so far am still searching for one with the following characteristics:
4 inch blade
Low enough profile that will enable me to carry without a bulge under my shirt or even in a back pocket
Plain edge, and a price between 50.00 -75.00.
I like the CS Safe Maker I got, but looking for something with a single sharp edge.

Cold steel pocket bushman for woodworking, bushcraft, gardening and for use in the kitchen. A tiny sak or a small canoe for school and job edc. Even for skinning and gutting I never need a fixed blade. I don't chop wood or hunt big game, though.

I carry mostly folders for EDC. Toyed with fixed blades for EDC for a while using different carry approaches and sizes. I don't need whatever advantage a fixed blade offers for EDC relative to socially acceptable carry issues. Most of my field chores with wild game is done with folders. I still carry a fixed blade in the woods however, but they are getting smaller, not larger.
