Yeah! What Jake said! Wait a minute, he is un-American. But still hey, we've got to be a s little more strict on who we let on the Forums.

Last week it was someone that was pissed off by Damascus, and this week it's a Bowie hater, when will this insanity end?

Subliminaly I read Allens question and finished it with...WOODY. Does a big knife make you feel more manly? Well take a look at this picture of Allen Ladd with the "Iron Mistress" http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum32/HTML/002811.html
and where his hand is placed, now who among us would ask for the four inch version?

I have been in the woods wth both and still prefer a big knife. Those times I had only the big one with me I was able sometimes with a little difficulty and not as neatly too do what a small knife would do.
When I have had only the small one I almost always needed the big one. That's one reason I like the khukuris so much. You have the big knife and the karda which usually has a blade from 3" to 5" long. I guess it would be the same as carrying the combo that has been mentioned.
I don't care for small axes or hatchets that much.
I sometimes have used my big knife as a draw knife and ya can't do that with an axe or hatchet.

I Love Bowies, but as it has been said the really good ones are designed more for fighting than as an all around tool, even if they will work in a pinch.

If you mix milk of magnesia with vodka and orange juice do you get a phillips screwdriver?

Khukuri FAQ

I am with Yvsa on this. If I go deep in the woods for any period of time, I take any one of my khukuris over most big knives.

But, I have high hopes for the Becker Line, especially the Brute, that is coming out from Camilus. Will have to wait and see on that.

I have an original blackjack brute. Real nice, hope that the new version is just as good.

Yep, definitely like the big blades! It does give a certain secure feeling to have a big knife along. And they are handy to have.
