Do I need a delica?

Its totally ok to love knives and get fancy stuff. I do it. But on the flip side it's totally ok to love the knives like a Delica, mini grip, Endura, Blur. These knives are so ergonomic that at least one of them is going to fit someone's hand perfectly. They are pretty slicey and easy to pocket. The Delica needs the least amount of thinking when choosing which knife to edc. It fits into almost every carry situation which is what makes it so ubiquitous.

And it's because it is slim because of that "stupid' lockback which I thought was so dumb and old school when I first starting collecting knives about 2.5 years ago. I buy more lockbacks today than any other type of knife.

There is something just right about the Delica, hard to say exactly just what it is, since there are many knives out there that are similar in size, features etc. Somehow it all comes together in the Delica in a way that totals more than the sum of it's parts, if that makes any sense. The PM2 used to be my main carry. Then I got a Delica and I very rarely carry the PM2 any more.

Simple answer- if you don't have one then you need one. If you have one then maybe you need two. (Us enablers have to say this.)

It took me a while to pick up my first Delica. But, after I did, I soon realized, looking back, how much carry time I actually gave it(a ton). The Delica cannot be denied.

Well thanks for making me spend some money, I just ordered it in green.

I got all the nicer ones first like pm2, manix, sage, Millie, etc. It was years before I picked up a Delica...I just couldn't see what the fuss was about. I finally got one and now it gets more carry time than any of them.

I can relate to that. :) In fact, I am planning on getting a couple of more.

When you get it, do not be surprised if it is a bit stiff. Spyderco backlocks are precision made and require some break in period. It will eventually get very smooth.

Thanks for the heads up. Much appreciated. Or else I'd be online (like any of us) trying to figure out if it was "normal"

Uh, you're asking the wrong crowd. You would be better off posing the question in the Cold Steel forum. :)

Yes, yes you do.

Great knife , that pic just reminded me of something I was thinking about he other day when I was using my Ti Delica .
I like the way that on the Ti version the lanyard hole is right at the end of the handle and not through the pocket clip like on all the FRN models .
It's something that doesn't really effect me because I don't put lanyards on my Spyderco's , but from a looks point of view it just seems better .

^ I agree, and now that you've pointed that out the fact that the clip still has the hole in it is kind of annoying. ha.

The lanyard hole is there so that if you mount the clip for tip down you can access and adjust the pivot screw .
The lanyard hole in the Ti handle plays a part to secure the handle scales together , it doesn't have the screw at the very end of the handle and I suspect that is why there is a difference .
Also the pocket clip on the Ti has to positioned further down the handle to clear the hole so more handle is visible when clipped in pocket / the knife sits higher .
