Do most of you order GEC knives directly from the factory or other?

I guess if you see a model you like on the GEC website, start shopping around online unless one was to buy from a seller here.

I've never actually bought direct from GEC. Mostly from Knivesshipfree or Collectorknives. I also do a bustling trade in second hand GECs which makes it less of a guilt trip when I actually use them as pocketknives (heaven forbid)

Most manufacturers (GEC included) have a link to their dealers on their web site. So far I have bought all of my GEC knives either directly from one of those listed dealers, or from another member here via the Exchange forums.

This. I guess I didn't realize you could purchase directly over the web. But I like supporting BF supporting dealers. Helps everyone and builds/supports the community.

I usually get mine in trades or second hand deals on here. Otherwise, I've ordered from Charlie/Waynorth (Charlows), Mike at Collector Knives/Knifeswapper, Derrick at Knives Ship Free or Northwest Knives. There are quite a few other dealers that are regular contributors here that I plan on ordering from in the near future.

But, as these are users and not safe queens, I get most of mine from members in the Exchange.

I have obtained knives from all three. And all have been positive experiences.

Most of mine come from the exchange. I occasionally order from Mike @ collector knives.

We have several members here who are dealers and are excellent to deal with. I've gotten all 3 of my GEC's from one or another of them.

KSF/Derrick are absolutely fantastic to deal with. I just placed another order with them about 5 minutes ago.

i've done both. either way, you'll get about the same price and same quality. recently, i've decided to buy mine only from KSF with their new points system. gives me more incentive to shop! :D

I've purchased from Charlie "Waynorth", Jim "Boggs", Barry at Gunstock Jacks Knives and Collectibles, several forum members and also from other Dealers listed on the GEC site. It's nice to work with people who have a nice value mind set.

I may have picked one or so up from that big action site. Every time I have looked at the GEC site, the selection has always been rather skimpy or sold out. I've really never had much luck on the GEC factory site. But, I'm rather new to buying GEC knives and have been looking for models that have been out for awhile.

I always get from dealers or here on the exchange. The factory site doesn't have a very good selection and are more expensive than buying from a dealer in some cases. :)

I buy mine from the factory. :D

And I just placed my first order from this ^^^ guy last evening. ;)

One thing about buying a GEC product - most dealers picture the actual knife that you are going to get. Important in the case of stag as you might like the way the stag looks from one dealer rather than another. It isn't always about the price.

I've only bought one other GEC and I bought it from a small, non-BF dealer simply because I loved the stag handle on that particular knife. Yesterday's order from Derrick (I'd been wanting an opportunity to buy from him anyway) was mostly because he had a #76 Northfield Western Outlaw in Natural Stag that was gorgeous. With GEC, the appearance of the particular knife you want CAN be important, depending on handle material, and that can dictate who you buy from. At the same time I bought a jigged bone #23 from Derrick that probably could have been bought anywhere.
