Hi there,

Did you know that the RC-4 has a really effective tip? I do. How do I know? I had one embedded beneath the flesh of my right index finger this morning.

Through and through. Seven stitches of goodness across an entry wound and an exit wound. Almost made my eight year old vomit.

Remember kids, when you quickly shift the position of your knife to gain more leverage for a cut through tough material, (honking plastic zip tie tightly wrapped around an armchair, special thanks to my two year old.:D), reorient your off hand out of the new trajectory of a possible mishap.

Complacency hurts like a bitch. My first serious knife mishap ever comes about thirty years into being a serious knife enthusiast.

When you get to the point where you think you can do no wrong with a blade, hunt down this thread.:D

We should have a thread to post pics of our mis-haps with our knives. In may I cut my right index finger with my Rat 5 (D2), VERY SHARP, cut mid finger nail thru the base of my nail & ending just above the first knuckle. No stitches though, duct tape & T.P. works well for cuts also.

That is a nice flap though. You should have kept the cut open and used the space (under the skin) for an emergency fishing kit :) .

This one was beyond self care. I had to get an X-ray because I bounced the tip off of the bone in there, but there was no fracture and no fragments. The gross part for my son was in my backing the knife out of the wound. That sucked.

;I got in trouble this last weekend for sharpening the kitchen knives. My wife sliced her thumb wide open with the bread knife! She wants to know how to "un-sharpen" the knives now. I told her that she needs to learn how to handle a knife safely instead.;) I did give her a heads up that they were freshly sharpened! Oh well. I've got to be carefull and not give her too bad of a time. I know that the second I make fun of her, I'll cut myself wide open.
The worst part of it is that she wouldn't let me take any pictures!

Nice one! Got a nick across the tip of my middle finger the other day from my RC-4 but nothing that grandiose!!

ouch............THAT surely would have made me pass out!

will your next pic posted be of your 2 yr old zipped tied to said chair?

Nice, a fresh battle scar. Boats are sure this wasn't the result of fighting off a brutish thug intent on relieving you of your wallet or your car or uh... your...virtue?;):D

Oooohh buddy, that one hurts.

A painful reminder of what we can easily take for granted due to our "familiarity" with our cutting tools.

Glad no major damage!

Remember...Chicks dig scars! :p

I was trained as a lawyer, hence I have no virtue to speak of.;)

:eek::eek::eek:

Boats, how many new "words" does the two year old know now?

I don't swear in front of my kids. Believe it or not, all I said to my eight year old was, "OUCH! OUCH!! OUCH!!! Will you look at that, that was pretty stupid. Go get me some paper towels willya? Oh, and the phone. Go get the phone.":D

Wow nice one!

I've never had the honour of being sliced by as magnificent a knife as a RAT. My only serious cut on my hand (finger) came to me by a cheapo Nella at work years ago.

That should make for a pretty wicked scar

Boy that is scary for RAT Cutlery. To see a cut like this on a lawyer!!!! :D

Nice war wound, Boats.

Sorry to hear about the cut Boats! Hope it heals up well!

Thanks. My doctor of thirteen years, a former ER chief physician, said "Wow, this is very surgical for a puncture wound, no tearing at all. The edges align perfectly."

I said, "Thanks. There's no point in sticking myself non-surgically.":p

She said "What kind of knife was it? My husband might be interested in knowing seeing how you always have something clipped in your pocket."

So I got to tell her it was a RAT Cutlery RC-4. She actually wrote it down. I expect my commission check shortly.:D
