Do you actually read threads when you post?

I usually read the whole thing, sometimes if the replies are just "great job!" I will sometimes skim them. For the number thing, I pick my number than Ctrl-F every page till I find it already posted.

You're kind of taking your rant a bit far. How many people can remember that many numbers, and pick out which ones haven't been picked?

I disagree. There were only 100 numbers to choose from; I don't think it's asking too much to browse through the thread to avoid making an ass of oneself.

Especially when someone is giving away a high-dollar, high-quality item just to encourage other makers.

More than one contestant updated the thread with numbers that had already been picked, yet some impatient, lazy folks re-picked numbers on the very same page  That's pretty ignorant; as in, ignoring what's right in front of your face. If any of those folks get snippy because "their" number got picked but they didn't win, I will be annoyed (not that anyone cares if I get annoyed ;) )

Does anybody know how hot I should temper the knife I made out of my dad's truck bumper???
Yes, Nick..........get back to me when you actually get it to the point where it needs to be tempered. I expect to hear back from you in, say, 18 months.:D

YES, but I'm not telling! It's a "trade secret" don'tcha know :D

Speaking of truck bumpers, how about the folks who actually ask questions like that, never to be heard from again? :grumpy:

"Does anybody know how hot I should temper the knife I made out of my dad's truck bumper??? "

475 degrees 6 times and only use real quenching oil.

Man, I've tried folding steel just once before and nearly broke my hand. I still don't get how those Damascus makers get all those tight creases. They must use really big vises or something.

By the way, grammatical errors irritate the crap out of me. Spell check is built in for God's sake, look at the squiggly red line and fix it!!!!

Where is the spell check for posting? Oh, I see it. :foot:

If I'm going to reply to a thread, I tend to read all of the posts. If I'm just checking it out then I usually skip over posts that are of no value/interest to me.

For the record, I think that anyone participating in a giveaway of the proportions seen today should check to see what's going on in the thread. I think it's a little rude to not even bother checking if you're number was picked already. There were several lists -and- a person can simply search the page for their number. That doesn't include people who posted within seconds/minutes of each other or just made an honest mistake. I'm talking about willfully skipping over info in the thread.

Isn't there a Political Forum where all these economic stimulus threads belong?

j/k, I get the same feeling sometimes, Nick, but then I'll occasionally catch myself looking for the reply button BEFORE I've carefully read the whole post. Hopefully I do always (usually/sometimes???) catch myself in time...

Agreed. There are STILL people jumping in, including ones who saw Nick's post of dupes, but didn't read it carefully enough to know he was listing only duplicates. Pay attention, people!

What happened ? When I was at your Dads house he had a bumber and all your steel was laying on top of a flourescent light fixture . Did it fall and get sucked up into the mist ?:jerkit::D

thanks for the great info!
i normaly take the grind to 400 grit before hand sand...
i would love to hear how you folks do it!

Hi Nick! you crazy bastid!:D

Sometimes I answer the original poster's question without reading the rest.

Many times I only read the posts from guys I know know what they're talking about.

I don't have as much time to forum as I used to when I was at a govt job. So no, and I don't feel bad about it either.

After all, I have knifes to make..

You're kind of taking your rant a bit far. How many people can remember that many numbers, and pick out which ones haven't been picked?

You don't have to remember them all. The only thing you have to remember is that is you pick a number that somebody picked before you and it is the winning number, you will lose. So you only have to remember the number you would like and skim through the posts to see if it's been taken.

My name is Adam and I was one of the worthless rude people that picked a number that I should not of. I apologize deeply. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive my appalling behavior. J/K I did fill like an a$$, but only for a second.

Life is to short to let the little things bother you. :)
