Do You Carry A Lighter?

This thread showed up about a year ago, if I remember correctly. Still a good question, though. I'm an ex-smoker, but still carry a BIC. The ability to make fire with the flick of a thumb is too amazing and too useful not to carry a tiny, light piece of technology.

I always carry a lighter. Bic, white, so I can see how full it is.

I've found that you can check the levels in colored lighters (orange, blue...everything but black) by placing a small flashlight behind them. This illuminate the fuel "tank" enough to see what's in there. I carry an orange BIC for high visibility.

Generally yes. I like lighters, and while i don't really collect per say, i have several different ones...

I'm a W&SS guy, so i've got a little waterproof countycomm 'peanut' lighter in my altoids tin survival kit, which is almost always on me.

Theres generally a mini-bic in my pocket or pack too, just cause they're so small, light, cheap and durable.
I favor the orange ones personally.

Sometimes i carry something more fun, like a Zippo.

Also i have one of these...though mine differs from this example somewhat.

I don't smoke, but I've carried a lighter for years. In the past, it was always a Zippo, but more recently it's been a butane job. Although I prefer the simplicity of the Zippo, I have to remember to keep it topped off (all that evaporation).

Just like an EDC: Once you start carrying regularly, you wonder how you ever went without.

I stopped smoking a long time ago but I still carry a lighter for all the other stuff I still use it for.
I carry a Ti peanut lighter (liquid fuel) on my keys and a Clipper lighter (gas) in my bag. :)

I carry a zippo everyday. I also keep a book of paper matches in my wallet.

I hate you people. You check in on a simple thread about lighters, read up on who is carrying what, and remember that County Comm carries a stainless peanut lighter, and you've been meaning to start carrying something again....$75 later, I have the stainless peanut, a couple screwdriver keychains, and the new stainless embassy pen coming in the mail in a few days!

Just a cheapo DX butane lighter, I don't smoke, 99.95% of the time it will be used for melting cord ends.

I smoke cigars but I have several bics and butane (Ronson Jetlite) lighters around the house and a few bics in the car.

Don't smoke except for the occasional pipe or cigar but always carry a mini bic or sometimes a mini zippo. I would like to get a butane torch lighter soon as well. Anybody have any recomendations? I can't decide between a Ronson Jetlight and a Windmill.

Dont forget the Imco lighters!!

Ive got a 6700
The nickel plated steel feels a bit more tinny than a zippo's chromed brass (which is reflected in cheaper price$), but once filled will last at least 2 weeks. (maybe depends on weather ) Also , the fluid chamber is removeable and can be used as candle etc . Downside might be the steel can get hotter a bit quicker.

Shit, I just hold them up to the sunlight. Simple, fast, easy....always does the trick.

Quit smoking 6 months ago---always carry one of the cheap butanes from Walmart---like an 8 pack for $2----no sence spending a lot on something that will hardly ever get used.

I carry a Porsche Designs Titanium lighter in the cold weather. I wear more clothes then and have more pockets. It is a great pocket toy. Call me Captain Queeg.

Since first reading this thread a few weeks ago, I've given serious consideration to getting a Zippo as even when I did smoke before giving it up almost 20 years ago, I never got around to getting one.

Then last week there was a local blackout which lasted almost 2 hours and despite having a candle I had nothing with which to light it! :(

So I'm now looking at getting a full size Zippo (so many great models to choose) but with the Thunderbird American Vintage Butane insert made by Vector/KGM Industries to overcome the liquid fuel drying out issues. ;)
