Do you carry a multitool alongside a modern folder?

Hey guys I was just wondering who carries a multitool as well as a modern folder. If so, what do you guys carry? I've been carrying a SAK Compact and a Skyline. I find myself rarely using the SAK, especially when I carry the skyline in my RFP because I would have to reach past it to get to my SAK. At the same time though, I don't like the idea of giving up the screwdriver, bottle opener, tweezers and toothpick. I've been thinking I should get something smaller to go on my keys. I've been thinking either the SAK manager, SAK rally or Leatherman Squirt. What do you guys think? Anything else you could think of? What offers the most use compared to size.

I have a Swisschamp in my backpack.
It doesn't see as much use as my pocketknife does, but it comes in handy when other tools are needed.

I carry a Leatherman Micra, a AAA flashlight and a peanut lighter attached to a clip in my RFP, a CRKT Eros in the coin compartment of my wallet, and my EDC of choice in my LFP. (Today it's my Laconico Slim EDC. :) ) I work in an office and I use the Micra more often than the other two blades combined.

I used to carry a leatherman wingman along with which ever modern folder I picked for the day. The leatherman got used a ton. Opening beers, building fences, screws etc. Now a days I carry an old sak officer and a cold steel hold out. The sak doesn't get used much though.

Yes. Presently, a Leatherman (new) Wave along with a Buck Spitfire. Sometimes a Super Tool 300, where it makes more sense. The Spitfire from my pocket is far easier to deploy than the ST300 knife. I tend to use the knives in the Wave more frequently when it is on my belt. I could go for something like a Super Tool 300 without the knife blades. If they had that, I'd buy it.

I do carry both occasionally. Some weekdays I carry a Leatherman Juice plus one of my EDC folders. Some weekends I carry a Leatherman Charge plus one of my weekend folders. I also have a Skeletool that I bought to carry instead of a folder but I can't bring myself to do that very often because I have a lot of nice folders that beg to be carried.

In my line of thought the leatherman is for the tools, the blade just happens to be there. There's always another knife carried with my multi-tool

i carry a Spyderco Military and a Leatherman Charge TTi. I work in a bicycle shop and work ocaisionally at a local live theater. i use both frequently.

Depends on where and when. I used to carry a leatherman pulse and a griptillian in calgary. Now I mostly only carry a Sak, or REbar. Its more a case of want than need. I can think of once in my life that to use my knife and only had one hand, but was carrying a fixed blade, and probably could have used both hands. That said, I often find that I have to periodically shed a few knives. If I let them, they start to accumulate.

My solution is this:
RFP: Locking folder (and spare change)
LRP: Leatherman Micra (and money clip)
PACK/COMPUTER BAG: Full sized MT

I find I use the tools on the Micra daily. Don't need to get the MT pliers out all that often. For doing hard/shop work, I'll toss the MT in my back pocket.

EDITED TO ADD: For me, key chain carry means a) I use the Micra less often because I don't carry my keys with me normally (they get tossed in my pack) and b) trying to drive a screw with a mess of keys flopping about. Micra is best for pocket carry, IMO.

Yes, for the last few months a Leatherman Juice S2 along with whatever modern folder I am carrying that day. Inside the house, just the modern folder.

SAKsRCool,

How does the S2 ride in the pocket. Feels a bit clunky in hand and am afraid its a tweener size between too big to be comfortable in pocket and too small to justify a sheath (I hate sheaths).

Thinking of getting one for times when I need to have pliers on my person (since I hate sheaths so much).

Sorry for the possible thread hijack but hopes it augments the OP's original question..

Pinnah,
It's kind of odd. Compared to say, a Vic Climber or Explorer the S2 is heavier. But to me at least, the narrow shorter shape of it makes it more comfortable in the pocket than the 3 layer-plus 91mm Vics.
I used to keychain carry a Squirt but wanted more substantial pliers and like you don't want to carry a sheath. If I need anything heavier duty than the S2 pliers I have larger multitools in my vehicles and shooting bags.

I carry a LM Squirt P4 and a Victorinox Cadet on me. I keep a LM Juice S2 with extra bits in my bag. I don't really carry any modern folders much, but if I did I would still carry the LM Squirt.

Off the job, not so much. On the job and during warmer weather, my Leatherman Rebar goes wherever I go. So does my Victorinox Fieldmaster.

If you guys had to pick one pocketable multi tool to back up a modern folder, what would it be? I like the micro but feel like if I got the squirt I could get by with just it's knife instead of scissors. Thoughts on when you would need scissors over a knife?

My every workday multitool and my knife of the day. This multitool is perfect for me. I wouldn't go a workday without it.

I work in an office and I use scissors for all sorts of things. But I have no need for a pair of pliers, so the Micra is perfect for me.
