Do you carry your Balisong on a daily basis?

Hello to everyone on the forum! This is my first post so be gentle. I was curious on how many of you carry the Balisong on a daily basis? And is it your primary carry? I recently purchase a Jaguar and enjoy "swinging it". I've had other cheap Balisongs in the past but for some strange reason lost them. Hmmmmm, should I ask my brothers where they are? Unfortunately with another baby on the way I am not able to pick up a BM42 right now. Had to think real hard about that one...diapers or BM42, baby formula or BM42, Divorce or BM42, well I guess the baby won. Anyways tried to carry it but felt real uncomfortable with the weight and length of it, not to mention its illegal in Kalifonia. Just wondering.

Daily? No. But, at least one day a week? Yes. My BM42 in a older Benchmade sheath horizontal on my belt tags along at least one day a week. Daily carry is a Benchmade AFCK and Leatherman PST (which, I might add, has also got that swing).

Anyway, welcome to the forum. I hope you'll participate frequently.

Oh, and God's blessings on your new baby.

2 BM42's with me at all times...... every day!

..........along with my trusty Spyderco "Q", a CRKT Bear Claw, and my "folder of the day".

Man, divorce or a 42....... what a choice. Anyway, good luck with the new kid. Theres something SO special about that constant smell of CRAP they add to a dwelling.

Even in California it's legal to carry a 2" or 3" Batangas Balisong. But I guess it's not the same as having a full sized one to swing around. I do have people out there who ask me to grind the blades down on a cheap china butterfly, so they can carry it with them and practice with it during the day. On those, the shorter blade does not really effect the way the knife opens and closes. Thanks, JohnR7 WWW.BalisongKnife.Com

Congrats on the marriage, the baby, and getting in on the forums, but not necessarily in that order!!!

I can't carry at my place of employment but I go straight for the 'knife drawer' when I get home. I concure with Chuck on the sheath arrangment- vintage Bali-Song custom horizontal sheath with the customary stiffener in the flap. It's almost too big for the 42 but sure does fit a 1 1/2" belt soooo nicely with all that elastic across the back..........DID YOU HEAR THAT LES!?!

Take care and pick up a 42 once everything settles in, you might need it! Just kiddin'

Ed,

Congrats on the Baby!.... Ah,,,, 23 or so years and you will be able to afford a BM-42. Look at the bright side ... BM may have the QC issues resolved and avalibility will be up so the $ will be less. If you wait till you can afford a baby you will never have one, same with a BM-42. Just save a few $ a week and get it w/o letting her know. Say it was a present

shhhhhhh I won't tell.

I carry my BM-42 every day... on my belt in the POS BM sheath .. Want a leather one like a Buck knife pouch.

I wish BM made a "BM-32" a 3" would be better for every day carry as it is less noticable. I use mine without fail everyday. I do get some odd looks.

I no longer carry my BM-30S as I now realize it's worth money and do not want to loose another!

Be well! And Enjoy the sleepless nights.

I usually carry a CUDA with me for general uses. But when it's night and the feel ain't right, the bali goes into my pocket. I personnally do not use a seath with my balis, just stuff it in my pocket with my wallet. So if some joker stick me up i'll reach in my pocket and out comes the bali. Isn't about time someone made a damn pocket clip for a bali, just a little one, something an inch or so, not obstrusive, just enough to clip on the inside of a pocket????????????

Absolutely! If not in my pocket, or on my belt (horizontal pouch) then in my fanny pack, briefcase (outside pocket for easy access) or backpack! It's a PC custom weehawk tanto!

You can get a nice sheath at a gun shop. Just look for a sheath for a 9mm magazine. They're about the right size and often available with "dual-carry" (horizontal or vertical) strap arrangements.

There have been several really good posts here on custom sheaths for the 42. OneStopKnifeShop.com is taking orders for one they're doing as is TheEdgeEquipment.com. Sniperboy seems to lead the pack on sheath experimentation and has a nice website article on the subject.

Thanks for the reply and kind words! Clay sometimes I have to check myself to make sure it's not me

Usually I carry a serrated Delica daily. Thinking about a Bear Claw myself just in case. JohnInNH, we're on the same wave length, got the old "hush fund" taken of of my check bi-wkly. Talk to you guys soon.......

Yeah, I suppose I could pick one up, but I'll think I'll just wait it out till my 42 comes. I don't really like my balisongs now, the jaguar seems lopsided with the blade being too heavy and the aluminum handles feel empty. With my China cheapies, I like the balance, but I don't like the light materials used.

I guess I'm just too picky.

I don't really have one to carry right now since my cheap Jag copy broke. Usually I'll carry one of my folders when I go out. But when I get a BM-42 I might carry it.

yeah yeah cout.. you and your high and mighty weehawk tanto..

heheh glad you lke it. as for me if you are a cop no I do not carry mine every day under my shirt with the kydex sheaths that I live to test.

for utility's sake I usually carry my rekat canivore.. SOMETIMEs trade off with the emerson commander to show off the wave, and a la griffe or afck when going to he gym or anywhre with track pants where real estate on my pcokets isa premium.

and yes there are balis that have pocket clips.. just none of the newer ones.

good luck on the baby.

Personally I don't think that the Jag's really have aluminum handles. They are too heavy. I think they are pot metal (aka zamak, mostly zinc), just like the other cheapies.

I wear my Jaguar on my right side whenever i'm not at school. i'll probably be getting a sheath to wear IWB so I can wear it to school JUST IN CASE. i'm paranoid like that.

I'm 16, but I dont tuck in my shirt so it nicely hides my vertical sheath (I know, i know, i'm getting a concealex one soon). I'm almost always wearing a jacket on top of that, so if anyone sees any of it, its just the very bottom.

Wearin' a Jag to school...bad mojo. Doesn't sound like a winning idea to me Darth.

On the other hand, now that I'm outta school I wear any knife I wish, anywhere I go... including to schools when I have to visit one for some reason.

Besides, who am I to talk? I kept a small lockback in my shoe in elementary school.

Yeah, i know. but considering where it will be and how rarely (ok, never) i'm seen with my shirt off, it shouldnt really be a problem. That and I almost never find the need to pull out my bali, except for utility purposes, but you never know
