Just a quick idea to ask all knife-nuts here....:)

Over and over again I feel temptation to display all my knives in my home, but thinking of situation, what if burglary take place.....?! Arming intruder/s this way isn't very good idea, that always force me to keep these shiny things well hidden... how about you?

Out of sight from casual visitors/burglars/kid's playmates. And in locked cabinets.

I've thought of making a small display cabinet but for now they're in my safe.

What about your kitchen knives? If an intruder want to grab a knife while burgling your home, the intruder will go there first.

Mine are in a 10' x 8' cinder block room with a 3" thick door. Far from impenetrable; but difficult enough to gain access to. (cement floor & roof too!)

I don't display them, but there are plenty laying around.
As for arming burglars, relax...the internet says it's really easy to take a knife away from someone, so just take it away from him.
But then toss it aside, or you'll be up all night taking the knife away from each other. :D

Nope. Other than what I am currently carrying, using, or keeping in rotation, they're all in gun safes (along with guns, of course).

And the reason I do this is because many, many years ago I lived in an apartment, and my neighbor - who kept is knife collection in a display case - had his entire collection stolen in an instant... boxed and ready to go... out the door with the thief. It was then that I realized that displays, while they make you feel good and are something cool to show off, are not a very good idea. Just MHO.

Nor are portable totes, duffles, hobby boxes, or tackle boxes. If you're so determined to assist the burglar, why not just carry the knives out to the strange van idling in the street, while he sits on the couch and watches football with a cold beer? :)

I keep the ones I like the most in a display case in my study, the other fixed and folders are stored in drawers.
Here's mine:

Don't display them, unless you count my kitchen knife block as a "display".

I tend to keep most of them hidden away (just because its a cleaner apt that way), but occasionally I do have one or two laying around on an end table, computer desk, etc. I'm sure that last part will change when my daugher gets old enough to stand/crawl/walk/etc.

I guess I'm in the minority. I display several of my fixed blade knives, ones I made and others that were purchased. But none of them are uber expensive. I just like to see them.

Mine are around where people could see them...but it isn't a case of display.
I just have so many knives that there isn't storage room for all of them anyway. :D

I just don't really worry much about it.

I display mine in a sort of wall case in an upstairs room my main concern was that they are out of kids reach
