Do you display your pocket knives?... How? :-)

I have under 20 pocket knives at the moment, but I house them in 2 displays in my living room. The above display, on my end table, is complete. The other I have on the wall, still needs 4 more knives to be complete. Now have another display stashed away that will allow for another 12 specimens (hey, gotta be prepared). Just wondering how you guys that display your knives do it?

Piled in a jumble on the dining room table and on the table next to my chair. I need a better system...

I try not to, but there often seem to be up to a dozen scattered around on my coffee table, kichen table, computer stand, etc.

Here is the one on the wall... Needing 4 more knives, but two are already on their way (a GEC and a Buck). So, really only two more for this one to be done. I had to install little oak shelves in this one to allow wall mounting :-)

Same as Todd and Jack I'm afraid...I do have an inherited collection of six knives that belonged to both of my grandfathers that are on a display shelf in the dining room along with old family photos and the like.

I don't have any of mine on display. I have about a dozen users and/or used knives that came without boxes that I keep in my desk drawer, with sandwiched between layers of cotton cloth to keep them from sliding around or banging into each other. I keep my most frequently used on the top layer for easy access.

All my others are kept in their original boxes or tubes and stored in some plastic magazine organizer boxes on a shelf.

Funny how things are sometimes.. one would expect someone that collects traditional pocket knives to carry at least one specimen of the sort. But, all I ever carry in a knife is the Buck Metro. It is American made, and it means a lot to me, a friend having given it to me prior to him moving to Arizona. Has opened a package or two, and has decapped a few beers ;-)

I was just getting real curious if anyone has been displaying their knives... and wondering how they went about it.... curiosity :-)

I'm ashamed to say I don't display mine. My meagre collection of folders are all users and I keep them in a small cardboard box on my desk where I can pick the most appropriate for the day ahead. The box is well travelled by the looks of it and came to me via Norway (thanks Lars). My fixed blades I keep in my garage.

Oh now wait, I tell a lie, my custom sgian dubh is on the mantelpiece in her box and won't be used until I address the haggis on Burns night, then I'll use her again to cut my wedding cake six days later.

I need to get better organized on this, not so much display but storing. Got around 20 on this desk, 6 or so in the kitchen, load more in the living room. Same out at the country place....then others in drawers but they do bang about a bit! Got some padded knife cases but they only hold 20 or so.....Aaargh!

It may be I'm a wee bit, what we used to call, anal... but I guess by today's terms, a bit OCD... lol! :-) Though I have fired a couple thousand rounds out of my Glock pistol, I keep it pristine... maybe a bit too much... but, that is me, I guess.. it keeps me happy. But know when I pass that nobody will take care of these things, so maybe I should just never die! LOL! ;-)

I have knife rolls that I keep my knives in. I need to pick up several more so I can limit putting two knives in the same "pocket"

I use a Gerstner Tool Chest. I don't display them at home. There is always a possibility of a couple laying on my dresser, the bookshelf next to my bed, and a few at my computer desk. I've displayed a lot of them here on the forum though.

Only on this forum. :D

Otherwise, they're tucked away in various old cigar boxes, etc.

Yeah, that Gersner Tool Chest idea sounds like a nice idea. Those chests can be lookers all by themselves, then add a bunch of nice looking knives in it's drawers... and yeah, nice :-)
