Just being curious. Please state your age, body shape, "satisfaction" with your body, and your workout/health plans (if you have any).

I'm 18. I'm just sort of medium, I'm not fat nor skinny, but I don't have alot of muscles either. I used to run cross country, but due to a leg injury, I haven't been working out in over a month. So I am not entirely satisfied with my body because I know my body could be in a better shape. I'm just hoping my leg gets cured so I could start training for track.

My daily "workout"

I walk about 1-2 miles daily and I do crunches and weights each night. I also avoid any junk or fatty foods. I can't remember the last time I ate ice cream or a cheese burger. I take a multi vitamin and make sure to eat a decent amount of fruits and vegetables each day.

so what about you?

Im 18, ive been lifting weights since i was 13 or 14. I try to hit the gym monday through friday. I dont run as often as i want, i guess i dont have enough motivation. Lifting weights is something i love to do and feel sloppy if i dont so i rarely miss a day. I am also a health freak, it came naturally once i started getting into weight lifting since they go hand in hand. Im pretty muscular and i am satisfied with my body although i dont consider myself to be at my best because i know there is always room for improvement. Only the mediocre are at their best.

I'm 19 and I have been working out for about 2 years now usually 4-5 days a week. I consider myself in good health and have an athletic biuld. Working out is something I do because I enjoy seeing the improvement in my body and it makes me feel alot better mentally and physically. When ever I lift I feel like it releives stress and I know its doing good for me.

I usually work in 3 day cycles doing Chest and triceps, legs and shoulders, back and biceps each on a different day and take a 1 or 2 day break in between cycles. This seems to work for me and I usually switch up some of the exercises I do every 3 times I do a muscle group so that it will stimulate it to grow more. Lifting weights is one of my dearest hobbies and I dont think I would ever be able to give it up.

Running, although good for cardio-vascular, does not build muscle. I was extremely skinny as a teenager but through exercising with free weights I have a fairly decent build and am muscular. I am now in my sixties.

Hit the weights 3 times a week and continue to increase poundage as you are able. Concentrate especially on bench presses and dead lifts as these hit the major muscle groups..

I'm was never a weight lifting guy, I just started now because I can't run anymore. Come to think of it, even though I am not a tall skinny dude, my body is more suited for running long distance. I don't think I will ever give up running in my life, and I hope I can still run when I get old.

I just started working out daily, and today is my 6th day in a row of doing so.
Part of it is because a wedding that's coming up, but still, it's a great start!
And yes, I am overweight, and I would like to be thinner.

age - between 33. shape. I've got a big frame, so I can hold my weight, but I've got a belly that needs to go.
Satisfaction - was pretty bad, but getting much better the more I work out.
Workout plans - 30-60 min. daily on my treadmill. Usually runs more like 30-40 min, though.

Age 18. 6'1", 155 lbs. Not fat, not skinny, no muscle. Pretty much only exercise in summer, when I ride bike a couple hours several times a week.

I eat pretty healthy with whole grain, fruits and vegetables, but also make sure that I get my daily "fix" of sugar in some form or another! :D Since I don't really exercise, if I start putting on a few pounds, I just cut back on the amount of food I eat for a week, and my weight drops back to right where it orginally was.

so what about you?

Yes, daily.

Age is 65, my wife is 62.

Use Body Solid Bi-angular home gym in basement, plus treadmill for her and exercycle for me. We walk daily around the lake by our home about an hour walk. Maybe 3-3 1/2 miles.

Body type? I'm 5'9" hieght, 165 pounds, just a little bit of extra in the gut. I wore size 32 pants when I got married almost 35 years ago. Now I can get by with 33, but 34 gives me a little extra for winter weight heavy flannel shirts. Jacket size is 46. Did pysical work my whole life, in the army engineers (construction) and later machinist lifting parts up to 50 pounds from pallet to machine table. Kept me in decent shape.

Wife is 5' 2" and was 112pounds when we were hitched, now goes a bit over 115 when I looked over her shoulder at the scale. She's a pysical fitness freak and if it were not for her I would'nt be in as good a shape as I am. I can be a bit lazy and laid back, but she's tough. I can't walk as far as fast as her due to an old injury that left me using a cane or walking stick, so she'll jog ahead almost out of sight then double back to me. I do enjoy watching her run.

Diet- Karen is mostly (about 75-80%) veggan, but we will once or twice a week grill some good burgers or New York strip steaks.

Generaly satisfied with our condition for our age, but time is remorseless.

I'm 33 and have been an athlete most of my life. I never considered myself a "jock", as I was training too much to go to most highschool social things and get that name/rep. I was a sprinter until I tore my hamstring in 1992 and it's never been the same. I banged weights for my sport, but young male ego made me push more than my sport required. Once I got hired in the fire dept.(1993),I changed to more cardio and did less heavy weights, but became more interested in bodywieght exercises. I train for the stuff I do now. I'm pretty into kayaking(both sea and whitewater) and log 100-150 days on the water/year, so that helps with upper body and core. I run anywhere from 2-5x a week and dabble in mountain biking and climbing as well. I train best when I have a goal. I don't do well without some structure. I was probably in my best shape two years ago when I trained for a 3 day, 350km adventure race. At the time, I was doing runs, paddles and bike rides totalling 15-20+ hours a week. One of my teammates was an age-class long course triathlete who won a silver medal at the Worlds', so I was training hard to stay close to her. My current fitness goals are to stay active each day by doing something, be it taking the dog out to hitting the gym or pool. On Nov.16, I tweaked my back and have been doing therapy to get back to a level health where I can live with little to no pain. They say it's a bulged or herniated disc(haven't had my MRI yet) as I'm experiencing loss of movement in my foot.So aside from the past 3 months, I would say I'm pretty active.

I'm 16 and i work out as much as i can, usually 5 days a week. Mostly lifting weights and cardio every now and then, like 2 times a week for cardio. i'm 5'8", about 130-135 lbs. so i'm in pretty good shape. I usually work out for about an hour when i do. I wouldn't say i always eat the best food because i don't, i just eat when i'm hungry and whats around:D .

Hey,

I am 37, 168 lbs. Lean/muscular. Pretty satisfied with my body. I paddle Hawaiian Outrigger canoes (mostly one person canoes) and surf skis (very tippy Kayak) about 3-4 times a week (about 20 miles/week). I also do pull ups, push-ups, crunches and core work (I usually watch TV sitting on a yoga ball with my feet off the ground). I used to lift, but haven't in a long time. My goal is to do the Molokai to Oahu canoe race in the next 3-5 years.

Peace out,
Josh

42 I work out four times a week in winter ..including a rotation of weights, Elliptical trainer and bike to nowhere, walking, running, stair master.

In Spring summer and fall long distance biking averaging 75 to 150 miles a week. Last biking season I biked approximately 2500 miles

Reasonably happy with body shape. Lost over 70 lbs last year at this time. It was worth it to lose the weight and keep it off. Before I was type 2 diabetic due to the weight, with very high BP. losing control with meds.

today not a diabetic. Eat totally different. and enjoy physical exercise..

good to hear that alot of bladeforum members are keeping themselves fit, especially the older guys. I made a goal in life that I will be fit through out my life, like I may not be in top athletic shape, but I will remain healthy and strong.

I'm 24
between 5'11"-6'1" and weigh between 170-180lbs. I'm pretty satisfied with my body, and the gains I've made since this past summer. I mainly do body weight exercises, such as push ups and squats. I also have a couple of dumbbells that I'll use to mix it up a bit. I'm finding pushups are one of the more effective exercises. I'm up to the point where I'll do between 20-30 incline pushups per set, so I guess I need to increase the angle.

It used to be that I wanted to look like the guys you see in Men's Health magazine, but now I'm more interested in putting on practical muscle, than looking like a model or body builder.

I am 59 and do a high intensity weight workout every forth day. I did not exercise at all until age 48 when I had 5 cardiac bypasses. I was an obese couch potato (300 pounds) with a bad back. I literally started my new life of exercise by shuffling my feet around the den for five minutes, and beginning a low-fat, heart healthy diet. In a few months I had worked up to a six-mile walk a day, had become totally addicted to exercise, and was down to 245, which looked kinda thin on a 6'8" frame. I started running because walking six miles took so much time. Stress cracked a metatarsal running, then it broke through. Began weight training when I noticed how getting around on crutches added muscle to my arms and tightened the abs.
On the weights I gained back to 265 with no increase in waist size. It is definitely possible to add some muscle mass after age 55, but it is not quick and easy to do so.

I had no real idea how much I had changed until one day a young lady asked what I did for a living, and I told her I was a retired electrical engineer. She said, "Oh, I have seen you around and decided that you were a former professional athelete who had taken really good care of yourself.'" That made an old fart's day!

I'm in my mid 20s and for the past year have been exercising 3 - 5 times a week, typically a mixture of cycling and weight training

I have a fairly heavy frame but no 'body builder' physique, I weight about 185lbs with maybe 2 or 3 lbs of excess fat on my stomach.

I'm reasonably satisfied with my physique, I would like to be a bit slimmer and more muscular, but I'm not embarassed about the way I look like I was 18 months ago.

My diet has improved but is still lacking. I eat home cooked foods with 2 - 4 portions of fruit and veg a day, I drink plenty of milk and some protein supplement, but I still eat way too much junk chocolate and cake. I have cut right back on coffee however, which is a step in the right direction at least.

this is the longest period of sustained exercise I have ever done, I hope I can keep it up! Its amazing how much more self confident feeling good makes you

Newknifeguy,
I've entertained the idea of training for the Molokai to Oahu as well. The boats I paddle aren't racers, but one can always add another boat to the stable, eh? I thought of an outrigger, but our waters and weather aren't the best for open decks. Good to know there are paddlers here!

16, I'm okay with my body. No real plans.

I walk to school and home during the week(about a mile, one way). I get out to the driving range at least twice a week and get to go play at least once a week walking/carrying, though it's been more like I've been playing 2-3 times a week as of late. :D

I got rained out today, so I'm kind of pissed. Now I'm sitting my ass at the 'puter. Oh yes, the day's when I'm not doing anything. I really don't do anything at all. :(
