I don't see the point in not using a knife unless it's a custom piece that's more about art.

I'd rather use my knives and enjoy them rather than to have my wife or kids sell them for pennies on the dollar after I die. I use my Zero Tolerance ZT0777 and it's really enjoyable to use. I don't abuse it, so I'm not worried about damaging the blade.

Use it, the joy of use of a knife you like far out paces any monetary gain from it being a limited edition.

a majority of mine are discontinued/rare. i use them all at one time or another. never bought with the thought of resale. imo use them while you are still able. just my opinion, they're your knives to do with what you wish.

I use ALL almost all of my knives . Two all black Spydercos : Para 2 and Para 3 that sit on the coffee table and just look pretty .
but
looking back I would have to say most of my even pretty basic knives are not commonly available unless I start messing with after market .

I meeeeaaaan I can't even buy a second Spyderco Pattada ! ! !
Though I wanted one .
(I have four Pattadeses just to make up for it) (you know . . . I'm a modder ; I wanted to texture the smooth G-10 handle on my second Pattada (the longer one) . Couldn't bring myself to "mess up" my first and only one . Better steel in the smaller ones ; so that's alright then .

But yes , I'm careful but I use them .
Fact is the only time I have done a bad deed to one of my angels is when I attempted to demonstrate how a waved knife works . . . and . . . feel free to dope slap me . . . I didn't take my Sabenza out of my pocket first . Got just the clip a taste of a scratch . Maybe I will replace the clip someday so I don't have to be reminded just how stupid , in fact , I really am .

Only you can answer that. What tangible pleasure will you get from holding on to it? Personally I have a few rare knives I still use because I see no point in just coveting something, life is too short. Covet while you use it.
My thoughts exactly. People give me funny looks when they see me using my Randalls, and other knives I've paid just as much for from other makers. But I trade whole days of my life for the money I spend on them, so I'm going to enjoy them as much and as often as I can.

If it’s hard for you to pocket a $50 knife I feel for you man. We all have different degrees of the same illness!

I have a copper Kershaw my daughter had engraved. I won’t carry that one. But, that’s different.

I've acquired a handful of "limited editions" over the years.. they cut as well as the standard versions, in my experience haha. I've always been pretty firmly in the "knives are meant to be used camp".. based on the quantity of my hoard, that isn't always the case, but.. I've never bought a knife I haven't been willing to use as a knife.

That said, I have two gray Scintillas sitting around somewhere, essentially untouched. BHQ tacked them onto orders as freebies. OP, they're all yours if you ever wear out your sprinkles edition ;)

Speaking of CIVIVI and not available ; my Carbon Fiber and Damascus Appalachian Drifter II . . . it's not available now . . . it's fancy . . . I love everything about it and I use it .

My coworker bought one as soon as he laid eyes on mine and it is his only daily knife that he carries .
hahaha he asked me to sharpen it the other day . I said if he bought one of the stones I would recommend I would show him how to sharpen it .
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day , show him how to fish . . .

I use my limited edition LGs, CKFs, CRKs, Koenigs, etc. I just don't abuse them, then again most of them are probably never going anywhere so 🤷🏻‍♂️
Ya , that's what you think . Your significant other probably has a whole spread sheet of your collection and where to unload them once you kick the big bucket . :D;)
🤣
PS : mine has hinted at just this very thing once or twice . But she wants me to do all the work to set it up . She has her good points though so . . .
