M390 (and twins 20CV and CTS204P). Great edge retention, great corrosion resistance, takes a nice polished edge without much difficulty (though it does take some time).
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).
Order here: https://www.bladeforums.com/help/2024-traditional/
I mentioned it in an earlier post, but the poll limited me to 10 choices.
Which makes it practically useless
Much better to discuss the question which seems to be happening anyway![]()
if there are only 10 options it could have been changed to say, chinese steel, non powdered steel, powdered super steel, high carbon steel etc.For a useless poll, folks still seem to be participating.![]()

CPM s30v takes such a fine edge and isn't that hard to sharpen I also like BD1 but ive seen it rust and its softer
Ok, your right, my bad. My intentions were to simply start a candid conversation on blade steels because I thought it would be a fun and interesting read. When the poll stopped at number 10 I went ahead and submitted it anyway. If your favorite steel isn't on the poll, that doesn't mean I'm implying in any way that it is inferior to those listed. Actually, one of my favorites is VG10 and it didn't make the list. As I said, this thread is intended to spark conversation.
