Do you mind knives that cut you?

I usually dont consider a knife truly mine until I have cut myself at least once with it. It actually makes me smile when it finally happens with a new knife. Which reminds me, I havent been cut in a while, so I must need a new knife.

I've cut myself with more knives than I can count, and it was always my fault. If I put away all the knives I've cut myself with at one time or other (or brands whose knives cut me), I couldn't really carry any models I own. It's not something I set out to do, but when you use knives a lot, it's something that happens on occasion.

If it's a cheap and dangerous knife that has a great chance of getting me hurt, i will dull the edge a bit and put it away.

if for example an opinel opens and nicks the owner, i would think that its the design, no safety lock maybe... if a hand slip n nick on the blade, could be the lacquer thats preventing a good grip. What i mean is that it could be the design

just as some people would not consider the knife their until they cut themself.
I know of people who would let blood of a small animal or some small living thing with their new knife. Think its some belief that blood is good i guess.
anyone does or heard of that?

i would not consider a knife mine if it cuts me on the hand thats supposed to hold it. Using it more may result in more accidental cuts.

a good bite now and then ensures respect for my knife and the way i use it.
besides, 'I' made the mistake, not the knife.

Well put. I just gave myself a small, but effective reminder a couple nights ago... I'm not happy about it, but won't make THAT mistake again!!
