Do you needlessly chop living trees in your pseudo-survival play?

G'day sodak

We're not the evil villains, despite attempts to portray us as such. We go on about our business contrary to the opinions of our "betters". Americans are stubborn that way. And we take care of our own, be it people or land......
......

Really, when "In November 2012 the U.S. Census Bureau said more than 16% of the population lived in poverty, including almost 20% of American children....) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_in_the_United_States

WOW close to 1 in 5 living in poverty in the US when the 6 heirs of Walmart have more wealth than how many millions of Americans?

Yes, one in five America children are hungry and go to bed hungry. I mean truly hungry. And summers are worse for them because their is no school so no lunch. And yes, that is shameful.

And now this thread isn't even talking about the original topic, hell this isn't even outdoors related.

We've gone from saving trees to saving the children...this thread delivers! :D

Poverty in the US is very different from 3rd world poverty. Both of your conclusions are ridiculous. Done with this thread.

That's what you said about the decreasing forested lands in the USA too.

But the fact remains --- one in five children in America is hungry. That might be ridiculous to you, but it's certainly not ridiculous to them.

I think there is real value in being educated about the environments you are visiting or living on. Knowing how you fit into the balance of things is essential for all living things survival. In the forests I frequent in CA, usage of deadfall can take away vital nutrients that would take thousands of years to replace. That's why truly experienced wilderness travelers research an area before impacting it. You will impact it, but every individual is responsible for educating themselves so the impact is limited and that future generations can enjoy the resources and environment that we are so fortunate to have today.

And what? This thread came off as trollish in the first place and I still think you're preaching to the wrong crowd. Now the topic has shifted to poverty and starving children, really??

This is W&SS section of the forum. It's not the starving children of America forum, OR the leghog soapbox forum.

T'wasn't me that made that shift in the conversation, nor me that made unsubstantiated and incorrect claims regarding forests in the USA. If the thread was nothing more than a troll, 8 pages later is pretty good timing to identify it as such.

Go back to page one and read the responses you got there. Most were smart ass'ed responses to a thread that you started by asking a question that you're not interested in having answer but rather you're just trying to make a point. Even when people did give you there answer/justification you just reply with something to the effect of 'we need to be better stewards'.

You're not looking for an answer, you're just looking to soapbox. And if that's what your after, fine, but lets call a spade a spade.

Oh, and the question of trolling can be found on page one too. People round here can usually sniff it out real quick.

They have too eat, but I'd never suggest chopping up kids to feed starving kids unless the former is a goat. Cheaper ways to go about it anywho. Goat meat has gotten pretty expensive across much of the USA.

And yet you have responded about a half dozen times, and here we are nearing 150 posts in the thread.

You're right, you must be. I mean, thread length trumps any actual value of, or lack thereof, the thread's topic(s) and the posts that followed:rolleyes:

Way to go ignoring what I've said in my post too and just coming back with more, "look how many pages and response my thread has got".

You can have your soapbox now, you've proven my point, carry on...

well I totally agree with you leghog-- I am a single issue voter, environmentalism is the only issue that means anything-- without solving the problems there all other problems are moot. others may say I am a bleeding heart, nothing could be further from the truth, I want to save the trees and the animals because I know human life depends on them. It is pure self interest to be an Environmentalist, to be concerned about trees, and to be a good steward of your land.

Without the tireless work of this guy, most of the wilderness I frequent would have all been turned to houses and desert.
