Do you needlessly chop living trees in your pseudo-survival play?

Without the tireless work of this guy, most of the wilderness I frequent would have all been turned to houses and desert.

He'd likely be called a troll here.

G'day sodak

Poverty in the US is very different from 3rd world poverty. Both of your conclusions are ridiculous. Done with this thread.

Glad you have found a way to save face and ignore being called out for publically expressing ignorant opinions.

For those others who question a drift in the OT, my question to you is..."have you spent enough time outdoors, to realise the importance of attention to detail and the importance of ignoring ignorant internet opinions and actually seeking facts?

Or is it a case that posting on any internet forum "somehow" makes a person knowledgable & substitutes for actually showing they do?

I'm glad he didn't have a computer and internet connection, otherwise if he tried to question what he read now, he may have risked being labeled a "Troll" by people who many years later "know more than he obviously did". LOL

IMO the working definition of a "Troll" on the 'net is ... "any one who dares to question/challenge the status quo established by the majority of internet "Walther Mittys" who participate at a particular forum".

Called out? Do you think that you actually matter to me? IIRC, you left this forum some time ago in quite a huff and have been banned from a couple of others. I really am not concerned with your opinion. Your actions speak for themselves, as far as I'm concerned. It takes more then a couple of insults from you and others to bother me.

Ignore list updated.

Nope, at most I chop already chopped vons firewood.

During hikes I will chop dead branches or felled logs.

I think there is real value in being educated about the environments you are visiting or living on. Knowing how you fit into the balance of things is essential for all living things survival. In the forests I frequent in CA, usage of deadfall can take away vital nutrients that would take thousands of years to replace. That's why truly experienced wilderness travelers research an area before impacting it. You will impact it, but every individual is responsible for educating themselves so the impact is limited and that future generations can enjoy the resources and environment that we are so fortunate to have today.

And you actually believe that BS? It's going to take thousands of years to replace a limb that fell off a tree? Then tell me, how have the forests survived so long? Do no animals move downed branches? Did the indigenous peoples not collect fire wood?

You know what I love? Needing a permit to hunt, a permit to fish, a permit to go into the woods, and then being told I can't collect dead wood for a fire, heck I can't even have a fire. I have to ask permission from people like you to go enjoy the woods. And when I am so blessed with your permission I have to go by your rules. (By "you, your" etc I am referring to all "environmentalists")

I'm all about limiting footprint and respecting the environment, however, Ca takes it a wee bit too far.

I reckon your right.

Since you have shown you don't want your opinions challenged with facts, I'm not suprised you want to take a classic ostrich approach. LOL. As a helpfull suggestion, if you don't have any sand readily available to you, there is always the "place where the sun doesn't shine". :D

And thank you for pointing out that my approach to BS is consistent across the 'net when I encounter it. The couple you have mentioned are BSUSA and Mikeforums.com

Environmentally speaking, throwing mud is relatively benign.
On an internet forum, it's a waste of bandwidth. Closed.
