Do you really have to disparage the Swiss Military to sell your Kershaw EMT knives?

SAK are wonderful knives! Disparaging them is beneath contempt.

How did a military force that hasn’t fought a battle in 500 years become the experts in survival knives? We gotta hand it to the Swiss Army’s publicist. Making their name synonymous with the essential multifunction knife is a real coup, literally won without a single shot being fired.

You know who does amazing shit every day to save people’s lives, in a hundred different impossible-to-predict situations? EMTs. They’re probably the closest thing to superheroes we have in real life. They have to be ready for any emergency, fight through any obstacle, work during any disaster.

And what’s in their utility belts?

A knife like this. The one-handed assisted opening reveals a 8Cr13MoV steel modified tanto blade with partial serration and black oxide coating. The lightweight aluminum handle also conceals a cord cutter, hex wrench with screwdriver tip and bottle opener, and carabiner clip. And just above the deep-carry pocket clip, there’s a glassbreaker tip. Neither seatbelts nor windows nor cording shall keep the Kershaw Funxion EMT knife from its appointed mission.

Yeah, OK, chances are that unless you’re an actual EMT, or search-and-rescue person, or something like that, you won’t be using this knife to save any lives. But if you want a knife with some actual life-saving tools, here you go. If you want a knife with a plastic toothpick, go talk to the Swiss Army.

I've never heard of meh.com and would certainly never purchase a knife from there. I'm pretty certain that the ad is the sites description, not Kershaws.

Its just a poor attempt at humor.

I'm not a fan of SAKS, but comparing the two is apples and oranges.

Guy doesn't know his history, the Swiss were in a near constant state of war up until about the early 1800s. And they threw such an impressive military display before ww2 kicked off that both sides decided it wasn't worth messing with them. Even a quick look at wikipedia should be able to provide those details...

A look at their 'story' and other things on the site is not inspiring. After all, it is a site that basically says that they are uninspiring by title.

SAK's probably the most carried knife in the US. Currently have a Sebenza 21 in the back pocket, and a "Baby Swiss" up front.

Does MC Guyver disparage all gun users by passive agressivley sticking to his SAK all the time?

He was anti-gun...went into it more than once throughout the show.
But somehow it was okay to use his SAK to make a cannon that shot bombs at the pursuing bad guys. :D

Unreal. The only marketing the Swiss Army needs is the armed Swiss soldier waiting for someone stupid enough to cross that border.

Or the yellow handled Wenger hanging from my belt.

Serioulsly, any company that makes something like this is open to parody.

The writer here is working from an invalid premise, the Swiss Army Knife is not now nor has it ever been a survival knife, it was designed to be a supplement to a soldiers load out, with tools that a soldier might use such as a screw diver that is fitted to the action screws of a Swiss rifle.

The writer is working a premise. He's mocking SAKs. And he's doing it well.

The right response here is to laugh.

Does this guy think that Calling them Swiss army knives is what sell them ?
Because sak's need no marketing, their reputation for quality and usefulness alone is what sells them. The fact that the Swiss military uses them has nothing to do with it, honestly I only really care when the US Army uses something and that barely even means anything ( MIL-spec gear isn't always better than civilian stuff )

Victorinox brings more knives to market each year than the next many companies combined. Something like 32,000.000 each year.
