Do you regularly carry a fixed blade?

Yes.

Front or rear pocket.

When I'm not working I almost always carry one of the following (along with a folder in my pocket). When the day comes that I don't trudge off to an office anymore, I'll carry one all the time. None of these is over 7" OAL.

Burt Foster, horizantal on my right side.

wow, Nice collection peregrin!

I carry a bark river psk and a folder usually. Sometimes i carry my izula

I carry one of my WUK (wharncliffe utility knife) either in a belt sheath or a back pocket sheath. This sheath rides in the back pocket attached to your belt.

Wow!! Thanks! I really appreciate everyone who responded--I don't feel quite so nutty now (although my wife still calls me one!). :D

I'd love to be able to, but I'm afraid I'd get arrested or something since people tend to freak around here if they see any knife, let alone a fixed blade. Come to think of it I've NEVER seen anyone carry fixed within city limits in my town.

I did just buy a new Bark River Bravo Necker, I love it and I've been carrying it around my neck around the house, it's quite comfortable but I haven't worn it out in public yet. - Maybe I'll slip it in a zippered coat pocket or something though. :)

Oh yeah, quick question:

For you guys who horizantal carry, where do you place it- your front, on your side, or small of your back?

Just because it's a fixed blade doesn't mean it has to be HUGE and you wear it on your belt for everyone to see. I like to carry a fixed blade that's usually smaller than most folders. I like the Bark River PSK and the RC Izula. Sometimes I'll carry a Bark River Kephart Companion in a KSF Pocket Sheath in my back pocket. It's even more hidden than a folder in a pocket with a pocket clip.

The Bark River Bravo Necker is a GREAT knife. Works well around the neck, but fit's PERFECTLY in a KSF pocket sheath in the back pocket. Only about a 1/4 shows. Looks like a comb.:D

That Tom Krein blade looks excellent.
I neck carry an Izula everyday. Wanted to belt carry an RC-4 horizontally but I'm just to skinny to keep it from sticking out weird.
Some days I carry a Scrapper 5 in this:

If body weight is the answer to carrying the RC-4 I shouldn't have any problems. My RC-4 will, probably, look no bigger than an Izula on me! :D

The "small fixed blade plus traditional slipjoint" combo works well for me. Slipjoint for eating and NKPs, fixed blade for rough work. And a clipped folder for cutting what needs to be cut fast. And a Leatherman P4 of course :-)

My fixed blade choices are a Busse Game Warden and two customs from the Hungarian knifemaker Zoltán Császi (Kilden knives). I carry them horizontally at my back.

For those that carry on their back does it bother you when you sit in a chair or in a car? Never tried that carry method myself figuring it'd be a pain in the back sitting.

That indeed can be an issue, but it's not as bad as you'd think. A lot depends on your personal build as well as on your sitting style. I have found a vertical sheath to be way more inconvenient when sitting.

When I do carry a fixed blade outside of my own property it is between a Zero Tolerance 0121, Spyderco Temperance and occasionally a CRKT C/K Dragon.

The Dragon is the only CRKT I currently own and I like it a lot. Not made with one of the steels I prefer but the ergos are great and it was inexpensive. If you are not the type that buys or makes a custom sheath for any new knife I would steer clear though or make plans to do it this time. ;)
