Indeed. What a weird poll for a knife forum.
Sorry, I snap the blades in half and throw them out. Safety first! Can I have all your "dull" knives?
IMO every man should know how to sharpen a knife no matter the method used. I sharpen all my own. No way I’m trusting some dude at a hardware store with my knives.
You know what……… I didnt even think about those with physical limitations. That’s bad on me. Now I feel bad. That’s a very good point.I agree, it’s one of those things. If I could not do it I’d work on it until I could.
Some people have physical limitations and need those services. Thankfully not me.
Uh, that’s just dumb. Don’t they sharpen their knives under the warranty anyway? Most good USA companies will do that for free, so I don’t understand the purpose of snapping the blade….Someone here told of a hunting friend who bought a Buck 110 used it until it was dull snapped the blade and send it in for warranty replacement. Talk about taking advantage of a good company.
which likely explains why he an ex …Only time I used them was to fix my ex-bfs bowie he nicked on a knot when trying to baton like those dudes on youtube.
Probably saved on shipping? Idk. I agree dumb and ignorantUh, that’s just dumb. Don’t they sharpen their knives under the warranty anyway? Most good USA companies will do that for free, so I don’t understand the purpose of snapping the blade….![]()
I hear you, but I also think that this was, and is, a method to keep those who aren't 'knife knuts' sweet. When they eventually spending some serious cash on a good knife, with the company offering free sharpening is way to keep the customer impressed after they destroy the edge. If they didn't have the offer of free sharpening, then, although baseless, there would be many customers saying the knife doesn't hold its edge etc.Companies like Benchmade include lifetime sharpening services with your purchase. Shipping is the deal breaker there.
Honestly I’m not impressed with most factory edges why would I want them to do it again?
Followup for everyone who votes No:
How to you get your knives sharp again?
