Do you still have your "first" knife?

Not my first, but one of the early ones:

Bought with Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum comics about 25 years ago ;)

I think my first SAK is gone because I gave it back to my mom after its scales and such fell off and she wanted something for hiking. It might still be around somewhere but it isnt mine anymore;)

My 1st knife was a Camillus Navy pilot knife (Stacked leather handle with leather sheath & small sharpening stone). My Dad actually had 2 of them, so I got one. I think he got them when he was a Naval aviator in the early '60s. He lost his, so I gave him mine. It's still in the garage & he uses it on a regular basis.

I remember my 1st pocket knife, but I no longer have it. It was an old Boy Scout knife (4 blade slippy). I lost it many yrs ago, unfortunately.

I do have some old knives from a couple Grandfathers. I have an old Baxter kitchen knife & a plastic handled Ireland made Imperial. I don't know the style of the Imperial, but it has apposing equal length blades (Maybe a Muskrat?). I also have a yellow U.S. made Imperial Texas Toothpick, too. I don't which one's older. The Toothpick is a 2 blade version with a "fish" scaler 2nd blade.

Socom,
Nice knife! It looks to be an older Pioneer. I may be wrong, but I think that they used the old cross on those until '99. You didn't show the other side of the blade, but some are stamped with the year. -Gary

Thanks for the info. There is no date on the back of the blade. My father gave it to me around 1990. It is a great knife and I still carry it.

My grandfather gave me two when I was 7 or so. A Buck 110 and a Camillus stockman. Still have both. The Buck still has probably 98% of its blade left and it wasn't new at all when he gave it to me (it's from the early 70s). And the Camillus is the only knife I own that the level of sharpness terrifies me.

I learned to sharpen with that knife and when I got pretty good at it, I decided to thin out the main blade. The main blade is probably down below 10 degrees (I took it flat to the stone). It doesn't cut, things just part in fear when they see it coming.

Unfortunately the Camillus has some blade play on the main blade. If it weren't for that, I'd be carrying it, but it's just too sharp for me to feel comfortable with the ammount of wobble and the mushy backspring that it has. The other two blades still walk and talk like new.

My first knife was a big ole SAK i got when I was 13. I've still got it, minus an inch off the main blade from when I tried to use it as a pry bar many many moons ago. All the other goodies still work and i use it all the time.

I don't have my first knife but maybe my 2nd or third. I traded the first knife I remember having, a really small folder that I begged my mom for. I always wanted one of the camping style knives like the one Clydetz posted here so I traded the one my mom gave me for it and another folder with fake ivory scales.
This was back around '77 and I still have them in storage somewhere.

My uncle gave me the all stainless no-name one on the right side of this photo back in the early 80s. Still got it and it's never been used.

My mom also gave me a green Victorinox 2 layer knife with the heineken logo on it (promotional item from Heineken) but I lost that one years ago.:(

now i do as of today. my parents were cleaning out the basement and low and behold my old rambo style surival knife gets found! ?all black blade with the wood handle, tan sheath with pocket for a stone. i remember i finally figured out how to to put somewhat of an edge on it but whenever i went to play it was duller than a spoon, my old man looking out for me.. maybe my sons first knife too ,good day today

I still have my first fixed blade (Erickson youth mora) and first folder (sak clone).

i still have my first knife. Got it when i was 13. not a good knife by any means, just a little 2" flea-market folder, but it was my father's. He died Feb. of '87 and i was born in June, so the knife has real meaning to me, and if the house ever catches fire you can bet it will be the first thing i save.

Sure do -- it's a Camillus Official Cub Scout Knife, ca. 1964.

And on the knuckle at the base of the index finger on my left hand, I also still have the small, now-faint scar that reminds me to cut away, not toward... :D

I still got my first knife also. Its a Demo knife stamped U.S. on it. Its all stainless steel and dated 1968 By Camillus. I found it on the ground at a Cub Scout meeting. I have 2 more of them besides that one now.

I still have my first and second one.
third, forth was lost.
First knife I made was also lost, second one has broken.

Do not - I think it was either a Vic or Wenger (loooong time ago).

I do still have my first real "quality" folder - a BM 942 numbered 927/1000 - bought in 1995 / 1996. That knife has taken a ton of abuse and still looks good and opens / closes like it was new.

Little did I know the evil path it would take me down:D:D:D

That 1st knife was so long ago that I don't even remember what it was, much less having it still around. :)
