Do you still have your first Spyderco?

I still have the first prototype I made to test the concept.

Is this the prototype Sal?

My first Spyderco was a fully serrated Endura with the integral FRN clip my father gave me on my first day of work as a commercial fisherman in 1994. I still have the knife somewhere. My first purchase of a spyderco on my own was either a SE dragonfly frn or a SE police sometime around 1995. I still have the police, my dad appropriated the dragonfly and used it for years. He still has that knife.

On a side note the first spyderco product I ever encountered was a sharpmaker sometime in the late 1980s or early 1990s that my father bought at the boat show in Boston, i believe from Mr. Glesser himself. While some of the stones have broken, I still have that sharpmaker somewhere in my storage area. I remember the demonstration where the guy who I think was Sal sharpened a knife and sliced a piece of paper.
Since then I have owned hundreds of spyderco knives both as a commercial fisherman, commercial mariner and now as a fisheries law enforcement and marine patrol officer.
I very very rarely do not have a spyderco knife on me as I prefer the opening hole over any other method to deploy a folding knife. It was THE game-changing innovation in folding knives, unrivaled over 40 years later.

My first Spyderco was a Delica from 1995. I gave it to a friend of mine, when I was drunk. No worries. He used it for everything and anything, beat it like a rented mule. Next time I see him, I'll ask him if he still has it.

Mine was a Delica in the 90’s. Was my first big boy knife I bought on my own. I carried it for years. Broke the plastic clip off and lost the knife. But have had spyderco’s ever since. The endura was my main knife even longer after that as my second spydie. Still own that one though. To me Spyderco is easily one of the most important knife company’s in the world for many reasons.

My first one is my only one, a para 3 lw, i did have a regular para 3 also but much preferred the lightweight,

my para 3 lw I've only owned for a few years but for a while it was my only knife and got some serious use, its now in a drawer whilst i find a new washer as the other is gone missing and a new pocket clip as that has vanished and i can't remember where, plus a nice service to get it working at its best again.

Also eying up pm2s for a second spyderco for my small collection
Wait, doesn't the Para 3 LW have a single washer by design ? I seem to recall something like this.

Centofante been sitting quietly in a shoe box for I would guess about 20 years. Dug her out, cleaned her up, and adder a LNW clip. She now sits proudly in the Nalpak knife box among all the newbie blades.

Still have my first - ZDP189 Caly3. Purchased in ‘06. Have added another 75 or so over the years. Lost one and gave a couple away but love all the ones I have and don’t anticipate any of them leaving my possession.

Nope. My very first one was a Standard I bought in 1986 and lost it a few years later (I think my ex has it). But I do have my last one - an Endura I bought in 1994 and carried daily until 2013 :)

Unfortunately TSA has the first delica I bought. Replaced it a year later and it was my workhorse for a few years. It’s been beat and abused and the scales are full of concrete and sand but it still flips open with a flick of the wrist. Had to modify the clip though so it didn’t catch on anything and everythingC53E82FA-34DB-4DE2-8F9E-87F38F7018B7.jpeg

Yep, my 1004L-SER Executive I bought in 1983, by far the sharpest knife I’d encountered.

A long line of Spydies since then. Biggest regret was not buying the lefty Co-Pilot and stupidly selling my lefty C15 Terzuola :(

Yes, the blurple Manix 2. Treated it to some nice wooden scales though:

Hey man I wanted to send a PM but received an error. I was wondering where you sourced these scales from. I have a Spydie or two I'd love to dress up.

I still have a Delica I got in 1991 I believe. It has travelled many miles! It stays in a first aid kit now, but still tight and locks up well. Love Spyderco!
