Do you use your custom made Busse knives?

I was looking for an Ash 1 skinny and I saw this on Ebay. Its priced in the $900s. Would you use this type of knife or have you. I've seen some stellar Busse pics on this forum but they all look unused. I own three and have used all especially the SAR 3 on my fishing trips until I lost it last week in the water. I decided to replace it with a Active Duty INFI knife for hard use cutting bait and line. My other two larger fixed was used on a ton of firewood. Just curious if its worth owning a beauty even though it sits in your safe. I find you appreciate them more if you use them.

I just got this ash1 a couple weeks ago, took it out today for the first time. It will be with me in the woods from now on. Use'em

Nice catch on both. I think the Ash 1 has the best blade size for all around use. They are hard to find now.

Regardless of cost, I would rather use a knife for 2-3 years and lose it than let it sit in a box for the same amount of time then sell it for a profit. IMO, if it's good enough to own it's good enough to use.

I use most of mine, unless it's a spare or I just don't get around to it. To me the value is to use, so if I wasn't going to use it, I wouldn't have spent extra for a fancy one.

For me the sweet spot is ghetto satin, but sometimes it's nice to have it done already.

All day long. I use to have safe queens.....now it's more like they just wait for their abuse. Use my TG14 from the CS all the time. Buying a Short Butaniku just to clear brush from time to time.

Yea, it took a bit to find one I liked and being in Canada and having a low dollar I had to pay a good bit extra for this guy. It's the .22 version a kind of in between of the skinny and fat. It fits me perfectly. They do come up on the Extange but you will have to be quick.

Nice blade, what are the specs on that one? Black micarta, thickness? Where did you find one like that a week ago??

It's black G10 .22 thick satin blade. I found it on the extange about 4 months ago from a BF member who was over seas and couldn't ship till he was back in the US. It's not a custom but was a long wait and well worth it.

I could NOT use all the Busses I own in several lifetimes...but at the same time I don't buy a knife that I would not use either. I just happen to like knives ;). And would I use a $900 knife....yep...have and will continue to do so.

I would remove the link if I were you...and don't ever buy a knife from that seller. Don't ask me why because I haven't been around long enough to know anything about him; just don't.

Plenty of threads to be found on the seller here- search Liu Kang. Clearly not someone anyone here would recommend dealing with...

I use most of mine, but I do own expensive collectables that will only be admired. That's ok, as I have plenty of users, in all sizes. And as someone hinted, there are sellers with knife prices beyond reality. That $900 online knife, might only be worth $550. Buyer bevare, as Bela said.

Well, after 4 yrs of hearing much the same thing from almost everybody on this sub-forums, I decided the man cannot be that bad to deal with. He had a really nice Fusion Fury that I wanted for a long time, and I only saw one ONCE on the exchange for sale. After a nice evening getting loaded drunk, I decided to buy it knowing I would be overpaying by a couple 100's what it would be a proper price for it.

1 hr later, (0430 am) I had a shipping label created, and 48 hrs later the knife was in my hands, as pictured. No problems, no hassle, fast replys and shipping.

If you have the money, I do no see why you should hesitate buying something you want from him.

I've bought from him and while his prices are really (really) high on most things, he is a fast and courteous seller. I have been tempted to buy his BOSC ID and have whittled the price down several hundred, but let's face it, he's got the only one that's been on the market in almost a year. I just haven't been willing to pull the trigger.

Going back many years I remember he bumped heads a lot with others trying to buy knives and sellers got upset when he'd buy from them and immediately try to flip the knife for 30-100% more. I don't know the circumstances of why he was banned but I would guess it was while trying to buy a knife.

So, in my opinion if that knife has value to you and you have not had luck getting one elsewhere, you'll most likely be happy with the purchase other than the price. Take your time though, I doubt it will sell fast.

ETA: oh yeah, then use the heck out of it!

I'm with Andy,

I have too many to actually use them all (although Rob Stanley may be an exception to that). But I consider all of mine as potential users except one which is very pretty with Mosaic pins etc. I'm trying to sell her now.

I have found that once I have used them, they become more endeared to me.... like we've shared an experience together... Sounds daft I know... but thats how it is for me. My favourites are my users.
