Do you use your custom made Busse knives?

I have a few special knives that have not been used but would never hesitate to use any of them if I had to. If you like something and it is within your means then I say "Go for it". Only get one go round in life. Live it up.

Of course I use my custom shop pieces, but only very gently. You can never be too careful you know. So for example, I might use one in a picture, very carefully placed in some soft wood to add interest to an otherwise dull and drab photo subject. Behold:

I would never do anything reckless or irresponsible with a Busse blade. I mean, it's good enough for cutting through butter, so what else would I need one for???

Certainly nothing like this:

Or this:

Just sayin'...

Well, after 4 yrs of hearing much the same thing from almost everybody on this sub-forums, I decided the man cannot be that bad to deal with. He had a really nice Fusion Fury that I wanted for a long time, and I only saw one ONCE on the exchange for sale. After a nice evening getting loaded drunk, I decided to buy it knowing I would be overpaying by a couple 100's what it would be a proper price for it.

1 hr later, (0430 am) I had a shipping label created, and 48 hrs later the knife was in my hands, as pictured. No problems, no hassle, fast replys and shipping.

If you have the money, I do no see why you should hesitate buying something you want from him.

Did it smell of hot lube, and sun tan spray?

If you bought it from He Who Shall Not be Named, you likely overpaid by more than a few hundred.

But, if you have a knife you love, I guess that's fine.

Just don't expect to be able to get what he charged you, if you try to sell it.

He really is a turd.

I just got this ash1 a couple weeks ago, took it out today for the first time. It will be with me in the woods from now on. Use'em

Do you guys eat Drum?

There are really two issues here, the knife question and the seller question.

To the first, yes, many folk use high value Custom Shop blades. If the use of the knife gives you pleasure, and you are not overly concerned with resale, then by all means buy it and enjoy.

To the second. That particular seller has a very bad reputation here. Not in terms of delivery of product (although there may have been some issues some years ago, not certain) but more around just general ethics and how he screwed over another old school member some years back. In addition, his prices are very high. Of course, it is a free market, and he can try to get as much as he can. We here just try to warn new folk that they might get a better deal with a little patience.

But if a particular knife just speaks to you, then go for it. I have certainly paid highly for some knives.

I had to bite the bullet and just use mine - all satin blades are so beautiful I like to admire them awhile and then use them, I really ramped up an unintended collection, and even though it will be hard, I will likely be parting with some very nice CS users (or not)! Some that I found that I wanted to use were only CS/satin/LE etc, and so I bought them and I use them. I have some i have not brought out of the house - just meat slicing and veggie prep that I am looking for a "user version of". I think I am going to slow down on 2nd market CS and begin looking for project blades and try and get good at stripping, sharpening and modifying handles. I am a "thinfi" guy as I have seen the term, so often hard to find.

Of course, he almost doubled the price that it was selling for at KC from Busse.
Most of us buy and sell knives on here, sometimes for a pofit, sometimes for a loss.
It pains me as much as the next guy to miss a release and be charged 200-300$ premium for it 2 weeks later(in this case, much much more)

Will that stop me buying Busse knives because I do not like the aftermarket game?
NO, its a game I decided to play with the full knowledge that if I didnt like it's rules, I could change table and play another one

I don't have any true custom shop knives, but I did send my AD in a while back for some slight modification, and I use her as often as I can. I had her tuned up to fit my needs, and as such, she performs flawlessly for EDC.

Consider yourself lucky. Feel free to ask Dan where Barbarossa's SE 2007 FSH is...since he fessed up to several members here at a Knob Creek show that he stole it, using the USPS to commit the theft.

But what do I know...

I am not saying that did not happen, and that he did no wrong. Certainly, there is a reason why he got ban from this forum.

BUT

Nazi's were evil, so was Hitler. Mercedes at that time was a Nazi company. Who refuses to buy a Mercedes today because of that?

I was a POS once, and would absolutely not like someone judging me now for the person I was 5-10yrs ago.

I gave the man a chance, he delivered. In my book, that is all I can ask for.
I leave the past in the past.

Again, my opinion.
Feel free to disagree

I have had an awful time making myself use the more expensive blades I have owned from Busse and Kin. We do not have a budget that allows the dropping of several hundred dollars for a knife, especially due to missing work for medical issues. I have, though, purchased several Busse knives. A few of them have sat around for, honestly, months or years even without being used. I would admire them etc. I couldn't make myself, oh, chop with a MMSFNO even though it wasn't a custom. I knew that doing so is like driving a new car off the dealer's lot. That one chop could cost a couple hundred dollars if I ever had sell it. I did end up having to sell a few. The problem is I really liked the blades and ended up buying the similar ones back...

I find that I would rather buy one already used at a decent price.

I also have had several knives that I have sold, not to that particular person, as used because of missing coating on the tip or other small defects. These knives where then sold by my buyer as new for much more money they they purchased it from me. I find that very dishonest. One guy even listed the blade on Ebay as new and for several hundred extra even before I had shipped it to him. This 'person' had the nerve to repost my photos of the blade, without my permission, and got pissie with me when I told him to take them down.

I currently have only one custom shop knife I managed to get in a gonza. I don't intend to use it and do not plan to sell it. I get pleasure just from owning it and showing it off.

That's the problem, its not the past that is the issue, he is still at it today making crooked deals and bragging about them at the shows. Speaking less of the veteran who was in hard times, LK dogged him horribly. In other words he takes advantage of people when they are their weakest, that alone makes him a scumbag of the worst order.

I do not have any Customs yet but the Custom Shop FatBack I have on order will be my EDC fixed blade...So ya I would use them. I have yet to sell any Busse or Kin I have bought.

No, I toss them back. I've never tried one but hear they don't tast so good.

Wasn't sure, thought maybe it was a salt water drum. No one eats them here either. Thought maybe they were eaten in other parts of the country. Heard people in west TN eat river shad and folks in Europe love carp.

I have an Ash-1, SFNO, Team Gemini 14, NMSFNO, and FBM all satin that I use on a regular Basis-The rest are basically for me to fondle, which I also do on a regular basis-I am a USER/Collector, I would not however hesitate to use any of them if the situation warranted it-They are made to be USED
