Do you use your damascus blades?

I've had a large UG raindrop stainless DT blade since 07, carried it and used it hundreds of times. It still looks great, and I love how it performs. Yesterday I cut and shaped insulation board for hours with my small mammoth bark inlay sebie with stainless DT ladder blade. Worked great, still looks great. These knives are built to be used. Use um.

What made you want a Damascus bladed CRK?

This thread renewed my interest, especially in one I will use. I am thinking about adjusting my CRK collection and I want to include a Damascus blade. I do already have a Mnandi with Raindrop Damascus and if I it is only going to be a safe queen, I may trade/sell it.

This one came to me as a user, complete with marks of use and a missing birth card, so I used it for about a year.

Then I sent it to the spa with several others, asking only for a light tuning. It came back pristine. I already knew that Chris has done the graphics on on, and when I showed it to him at a Blade show he said he'd also ground the blade on it.

I decided that would be a good reason to leave it pristine, and switched to a BG-42 small Reg UG for my light use carry.

I still kick myself in the butt for letting this one go. Was all mine and then at last second changed my mind, I passed and let it go to someone else.

I actually have used CRK damascus in the past. I really like it and have used it alot. It does not scratch easily and I feel it would take tons of wear before it showed signs of use. I liken the edge holding ability to S30V. Since S30V has always been my favorite CRK blade steel, it was a real winner for me. I want to start edcing my damascus large 21 as thats what I got it for. But now that I have a couple, dont know which one to use.....lol

Thanks for all the info. I never really considered damascus but now i thinking about it as a LIGHT user, very light for starters. My grail would be a small with mammoth inlays and ladder damascus (like colog's). Second would be Honduran Rosewood with ladder damascus.

Who posted it that time? It took me a few tries to catch this one, it never lasted more than a few minutes when posted. I finally happened to be on one night when LisaNTica posted it, and I pounced.

I didn't know I could type "I'll take it" so fast. :p

And have no fear, it has a loving home. :D :D :D :D

I had it on hold before Lisa got it. Like a dummy, I let it go in favor of another one. Glad you gals were able to get it though. If it ever goes though, please give me dibs.....lol

I'll put you in line. ;)

I just talked to Angela today and ordered a ladder pattern blade for a large 21! Can't wait! Problem is that I will have to as wait time is 9-12 months! I know you guys are thinking why not just get a complete knife? I have a certain dealer exclusive that I'm waiting on that begs for a Damascus blade so i'll just have to be patient I guess...

I too spoke with Angela today regarding a small Honduran Rosewood and found that it was a Blade HQ exclusive. A subsequent call to Blade HQ revealed that there are no plans to reorder this particular wood inlay. Bummer!! Guess I have to decide on another wood inlay. Going back and forth between snakewood and cocobolo. Then the more research I do I find other nice looking inlays... Can't decide!!

That is Honduran Rosewood.

That is the exact knife I've been hunting for!! She's a beauty!! Just found out that they are discontinued. If you ever consider letting her go keep me in mind. I posted a WTB thread too but I'm not holding my breath.

Shadow449. You with your Honduran Rosewood, me with my Mammoth Damascus. May take a while!
