Do you use your pocket clip?

Twenty years I've always carried some type of folder (probably Spyderco mostly) and usually a concealed firearm. If I clip my knife inside of my right front pocket I scrape my knuckles getting my car keys out. The keys always seem to wind-up in that pocket for some reason! Can't seem to break that habit? My left pocket holds cell phone and folding money (change usually ends up in truck console) I use the folder mostly for utility work and it would not be first line of self-defense. Keys may beat the knife up a little but that's OK. If I'm carrying one of my dress up folders I keep it seperate in the pocket but still don't use the clip. Am I missing out on something not using the clip?

I don't use a clip either. But I do leave 'em on the knives that they come on. My pockets are all dedicated. Keys in LFP, knife in RFP, wallet in LRP, hanky in RRP. Cell phone goes in a cargo or shirt pocket. G30 is crossdraw on my belt at 10:00. That's all I carry when I go out so no pocket has to double up.

I always use the clip (if the knife has one. I've lost or come close to losing knives that were just sitting in my pocket. Being OCD I have specific ways of organizing my pockets. Left front pocket--car fob, insulin pen, flashlight, cellphone. Right front--Knife, glucose meter, house keys. The house keys I usually leave in the car or are on my desk at work. My car has push button start so I just need the fob, which I keep separate. Been doing it that way for over three years. Before that, key and fob for my truck were kept separate in the left pocket as well.

There's an argument for carrying your folder, easily accessible, on your weak side as a support for your CCW.

My old man carries off-side because of a hand injury...using his back left pocket. Seems to work out pretty well.

I always use clips because stuff can and will fall out of the pocket. I don't need a knife falling out of my pocket in public.

I use the clip. It's more convenient and comfortable for me to carry that way than to have a folder large enough for a 3"-3.75" blade loose in a pocket. Full disclosure: I typically wear pants with slash pockets on the front of each thigh, so it is especially easy and comfortable to have a knife clipped into one of those. I still use the clip in jeans or shorts.

To clairify I usually wear jeans and T-shirt without pocket (I live here in Florida where even it's cold today!)

I always use the clip and do not use knives without clips.
I clip the knife in my right front pocket, and usually my cellphone is also in that pocket. I can pull the cellphone out just by grabbing the end of it (iphone 5) so I don't have to put much of my hand into the pocket. This is good because it is difficult to get my hand in the pocket. I hook my car keys to a belt loop with a spring loaded carabiner.

If a person has problems clipping a knife to a pocket they can try clipping it to their waistband. I've done this with multitools when I was carrying a folder and a multitool and it seems to work well.

for the past few years i have carried my pocket knives without the clips. recently, i reattached the clips, but still cary them fully inside my pocket. i guess the extra volume isn't as noticeable as once i though? could be anything when it comes to me. still, nice to have the option of clipping it something, if needed. thanks!

I have a small piece of ss ball chain covered by the outer cover from paracord I wear around my neck, I've been coping my small Sebenza 21 onto and then tuck it into my shirt. The knife has a small monkey first lanyard on it and I can reach under my shirt and grab the monkey first to pull the knife out. It works so well that that's where I keep my Sebenza now.

Yes I use the clip. At work I have a Military or Paramilitary 2 clipped right front pocket. I wear work gloves so with either of these two clipped I don't need to take my gloves off to use my knife.

When not at work I still carry clipped right front. Just because it is where I am used to reaching for a knife.

Though I might have another loose in my back pocket or in my left pocket too.

I always use the pocket clip. The only knife I lost did not have a clip and fell out of my pocket somewhere.
Also, it is much faster to withdraw the knife when it is clipped.
Even faster, if you use a clip AND a lanyard...

I almost always use the pocket clip. I find it much more comfortable to carry larger folders if they are held in place in my right-front pocket. That, and I typically prefer ease of access over 100% concealment. Which is why I also don't use deep-carry clips.

I do get away with only every carrying my knife and keys in the same pocket. And then my car keys are on a lanyard, so they are easy to get to.

But, for the times when concealment is necessary I go unclipped. With jeans and a belt, even a Grayman Satu banging around loose isn't that bad.

At work I carry in a belt sheath. Off work I carry clipped in my off hand pocket as of recent. For many years I carried a traditional slip joint of some kind, but over the last 6 months or so I have made an effort to carry a locking folder.

The clips do annoy me though for the same reasons the OP stated.

Nope, keep them on the knife but don't use them. I carry my CRK in a pocket sheath. The others in the pocket. Stems back to carrying slip joints when I was younger.

I always use my pocket clip, because I don't want to lose my knife. My knife has a pocket clip but I keep it clipped to my belt instead that way it won't be getting in the way of my wallet and survival kit, pens and "stuff".

BIG thing I forgot to mention: I'm afraid of clip on leather interior of my car and leather on couch and recliner! I'd be divorced! Have to sell my knives to find place to live!
