Do you USE your Sprints/Exclusives?

I've found that I tend to baby these knives more than their production siblings. It always kills me to see people post pics of sprints and exclusives that have never been used, but I've come to realize that maybe I don't get the full value out of mine because I'm afraid I'll "hurt" them if I use them too hard :D

How about everyone else? Do you use your sprints and exclusives hard, or do you tend to treat them with a little more care?

unless you bought it for resale when it takes values, there's no point in buying knives you'll never use, again, unless they are show piece. I don't have many sprints, just my two SB endure and delica and my new'er Endura in hap40. didn't use the hap40 one yet, but my two super blue gets regular use, especially my SB delica. Why not use them? They are such a charm :)

I took the clip off just to take a pic for this, and granted, it's just a little dirt/grime, but I do tend to use the sprints and exclusives I pick up. This one just happens to be my most frequently carried.

About 2/3 of my collection of about 25 Spydies are sprints, which I have accumulated over the last 5 years. All of them are carried and used as part of my EDC rotation. All of them have been reprofiled or convexed, and sharpened multiple times. Some of them are modified (scales, clips etc). I haven't been able to wear any of them out yet. They are not abused, they cost too much for such foolishness. ;)

What bugs me is to see pictures of supposed "user knives" which look to be in prisrine condition, and still proudly sport their factory edges. No micro bevels either... I don't fall for the excuse that "S110V just stays sharp forever". It doesn't.

I've only one sprint ATM, a Bento Box CPM-204p Domino. And it's one of my most used knives. Some sprints come with lovely scales and some come with great steel. How could you not use that great steel to potential. I agree there is a difference between use and abuse.

Yep. I buy knives to use them, and Sprints for the variety of use that the different steels offer. And because I can.

But they still all get used.

Agree with jed. Knives are meant to be used. The caly super blue blades are some of my favorite folders and are used.

For the most part no, but I do occasionally carry and use this 2009 Forum Native...

...not sure exactly how many were made, but I'd bet it was less than some Sprints and Exclusives.

Also occasionally carry and use one or the other of these two Kopas, modified for loose pocket carry. Again not sprints, but only 600 of each were made....

...and then there's this "1 of very few" bolstered Stretch that's seen quite a bit of pocket time and a fair amount of use...

I would not buy any tool just to look at. I have used some Sprints really hard. That is what they are made for. A blade made out of gold, sure, put it on a shelf. While S90V may be pricey for a steel it is not a precious metal. It is a blade steel and a damn fine one. Put an edge on it and use it for what it was made for, separating matter.

On the other hand, I do have the Damascus Caly3 CF and while it does see plenty of use it is never used hard. It is a gents knife after all. My Cruwear Military might trim some sheetrock in a pinch. I guess it depends on which sprint we are talking about.

Most knives of mine are users. Some sprints I use more and harder than there run of the mill counterparts. I will take it easy or not use a knife at all if it happens to be something irreplaceable. That said I have very few irreplaceable knives ;-)

All of my carry knives are either Sprints or Discontinued models. And they all get used hard

I lost one of my two hap40 dragonflies in an avocado orchard......lost forever with many oakleys and other such loved gear. It had a hard use life even though it was short.

I use them, but the only ones I have right now are the Cruwear Military and Cruwear Manix 2. I've had a few other PM2s and I did use one of them but eventually sold them because they were worth more than what I wanted to carry.

I only have two sprints and use them both. Delica G10 and Rookie G10 but I have backups.

I have a BBS Millie in blue G10 and S90V that is arguably my hardest used Spydie. Anyone familiar with that knife and BBS knows their prices are a bit higher than their competitors for similar knives, but this was a BBS exclusive. Frankly, the fact that I paid a bit more for it makes me want to use it all that much harder! :D

I use all my sprints; they're the best thing going! I pretty well only buy sprints or exclusives now.

I buy my knives to use them. The fun thing is to try and discover different steels....
