Do You Want The Little Rusty Knife?

Most any convention, phrase, gesture that has any meaning at all. is offered to the elderly as proof the store has not been entirely given away.

Another vote for losing the lettering. :(

I could see where that added time/cost to the kami's job; if I had to even write something legible in Devagari it would take a long while (if at all).

Mm. Do want one sterile (no markings at'all) in horn in the future. Just calling it the RSD is tribute enough; like James K. Mattis' fine JKM. We remember Rusty.

...and when they come in and sell briskly with no markings, those who you who were wise and grabbed the dedicated ones can make a mint.

Mike

Maybe just the initials RSD on the blade near the handle?

Yangdu and the Kamis will get if figured. If something doesn't work, letters can be dropped until it does.

I just got to handle one...it is a *very* nice and usable knife. The lettering can go...except for those with the connection to our old friend, they may distract.

But the knife itself...*much* more usable and nicer than I expected. I would still like to get one in black horn for myself...

Are there any of these available now even with the writing? I would buy an unmarked or lightly marked one for sure, but I wouldn't mind picking up an original now.

As much as I love the knife and respected Rusty, I didn't want one because I thought the blade looked too cluttered. I have his seax in my collection to remember him by, so I'd buy a plain jane unmarked one if they came up. That's been the only thing holding me back.

I believe the only way Yangdu will consider continueing the blade is without the Rusty stuff. She could knock off a few bucks and the design might become viable.

We know who Rusty was, and that this blade was designed in his memory by his friends. What else do we need? The knife says Rusty.

The knife is flat on the back...was that mentioned before and I missed it?

An awesome EDC...belt, pocket, boot, sock...whatever.

Yangdu...one in black horn next if possible! (Black leather would count as bonus points!)

Lets do this with out the lettering. I'll take one, just let me know how much and when. :)

Thanks to a gentleman, scholar, and fellow knife knut, I have an original with lettering on the way. As an antiquarian of sorts, or perhaps as an antique myself, I am delighted to get a commemorative version -- which is going to see use anyway!

But I would be very interested in an unmarked blade as well. This design is more than simply a classic, it's a real utilty knife, although we may have to show some discretion about exactly what use it might be put to. :D

You know why, don't you? That's so traditionally it can be worn very close to the body for stealth.

Let's hope you don't have to sink it in too many muggers!

Out here in Joisey? Muggers? I'd hit them with my cane! :D

A small, sharp blade is critical in New York City on the subways. If people crowd you, you can poke them with it till they back off.

(My wife & I were riding to work on the subway one morning when some jerk was shoving his way through the car pushing up against the women. When he got to my wife she stabbed him in the biceps.

Ooooooohhh ... he turned very pale and wobbled on out of that car.)

You sure know how to pick a wife.

Do you remember the black and white movie where the punks took over a NY subway car, and no one would fight them?

Soldier boy with a broken limb finally did something.

Yes Esav...I just didn't kow that the model featured it!

Why would any one want to buy a little rusty knife? Sounds like something you might see laying in the alley. Yuck.

Perhaps a change in the marketing strategy might improve sales. May I suggest calling it something like, "R. Slate's Scot Sock Knife" rather than "Little Rusty Knife." :D

As a former Federal bureaucrat, I insist on the name representing all interested parties; perhaps, "R. 'Rusty' Slate's Little Scot Sock Knife".

Of course, considering the size of the knife, all of this would.not.fit. I suggest a sterile blade with a certificate detailing the history of the now uninscribed name. :)
