Do you worry about losing your knife?

I'm constantly misplacing my occasional EDCs around the house, car, and work. Currently I've temporarily misplaced my Buck 112 (killing me since I've got a hankering for it right now, but I did find the sheath...), my opinel, and a blacked out Delica 4.

I always manage to keep track of my usual EDCs, but the longer they get ignored the more they wander. I left a BM 527 in a couch cushion for a month, ended up giving it away because I never used it.

That's quite the collection. :) What $400 light are you carrying? Be lucky you aren't wearing an expensive watch to lose as well.

what flashlight do you have?

It's a McGizmo Haiku XP-G, I'll sometimes switch up with a custom Delghi Ti head with a McGizmo body.

Haven't gotten into watches....yet. I know what I like (can't afford it) and will probably settle on a TAG Aquaracer

more reason to buy a new knife ;).

:thumbup::thumbup:

Pretty much all my knives that use clips stay secure in my pocket. The ones that use sheaths I don't worry about...I worry more about leaving my knife somewhere and forgetting about it, though I usually check my pockets regularly, same as I do with my wallet..:D

Wait 'til you leave a gun in a hotel room and remember it when you're 3 hours into your 18 hour trip home..
I'm still looking for a misplaced PCC 3" Balisong.
Found the sheath, at least...
I have a LEO buddy that forgot his firearm in the restroom of a fast food joint. Luckily, it was still there when they went back. I can't imagine that feeling.

Wow.

That must have SUCKED.

Did you get it back?
Mom & Pop in FL. Called the owner, he retrieved it and threw it in his safe. Fortunately I had a deputy sheriff acquaintance from an FN/FAL forum in that county and he picked it up and shipped it to me.
Pucker city for a few minutes after I realized I left it, though!

When you gotta drop your britches to do your business when you're carrying a gun, put it in the crotchal area of your pants (not your underwear, ick).
That way you don't leave it behind. Never separate yourself from your gun.
Unless, you know, you're in your hotel room or something. What kind of idiot would leave one there.

i don't get too attached to knives but when im going overseas -same as the OP for 'some reason'- i take the same inexpensive knife, fully prepared to go home without it but at the same time it sure would be nice to take my #1 knife with me i've needed a good blade like it a few times over there.

mebbe it's a mind game where i can 'lose' and still win. [lose the knife, that is].

Smooth bodied knives like the red plastic handled SAK's can easily fall out a pocket while leaning back in an easy chair, a sofa, or a car seat. Luckily for me, it was usually my own car, chair, or sofa and the knife was recovered. Textured handles like my FRN Delicas (clip removed) stay in the pocket much better, and I have yet to lose a clipped folder, again textured G-10 or FRN.

Try not to lend your knives to others.
I've seen a fair share of stationery went missing in the office and that's only within a small space.

Some friends are nice but they have this bad habit off forgetting.
Worst they won't be able to tell how precious your 1/20 folder or the finishing and they just took and pried the heck outta something.

I have a string clad in purple plastic coat to hold my keys and it never left me.
I still feel bringing the knife with you are less likely to be misplaced.
Use the most expensive one you could.

Safe queen just doesn't make sense to me.

When I first started carrying heavily about a year ago...I was concerned, but now, I really don't worry. The only clip knife I habe had fall out of a pocket and into the couch is my SS Cara Cara 2...and I don't worry about that. That day, I happened to be EDCing it in my pants pocket for the hell of it, but it usually goes IWB, or in the interior pocket of my Tux jacket when I perform, so I'm not concerned.

Since I'm on a budget anyway, none of my knives are more than...$35 anyway. I can afford to replace them if I have to. The fear of losing them though may keep me from buying more expensive knives when I am able to afford them though. Not sure. Around $60 for a good knife seems reasonable to me, unless I REALLY love the knife.

No, I never worry about it. I've never lost a knife, it stays in my pocket until I use it, then it goes back when I'm done. Same as my keys or my wallet. Why should I lose it?

I havent lost any knives yet that are pricey or valuable to me but i think about misplacing my everyday carry knives sometimes. Good thing about knives is if you lose it in a public place its not as bad as losing a carry firearm. I know a guy that lost his gun in a restroom and what a mess it was to get it back and the comottion it caused.

I used to only carry my Kershaw's and CRKT's because I didn't want to possibly lose a $200+ Emerson/Benchmade, but I soon realized that I would much rather have a dependable knife with me at all times and lose it, then not have a dependable knife when I needed it...

Plus one on that bro....

I do indeed worry about it. Losing a knife really sucks, so I often find myself checking to make sure that my knife is still clipped in my pocket at work, and I go so far as to tie little neon-orange fobs on the ends of my work knives (in order to make them more visible in case I drop them).
